Default The Man They Call Goran

I don't get the fanboy-ism surrounding this guy. What's the big deal? Is he really that big of an upgrade over our current guards? Is he capable of running a team full-time? I haven't seen much of him so I don't know the answer to these questions.

Somebody, please explain.

And... go!

his early career is playing out a lot like jose's did too, which I find kind of funny. they're different players though, doran can actually break you down 1 on 1 but he's not as money in the PNR. If I had to choose one I'd rather have a guy that can break you down 1 on 1 , but obviously having a guy that can do both is ideal.

i dunno, he's going to get paid and promised a starting role at some point and we'll see what happens. i'd much rather have lowry at the end of the day.

I am offended!

I scroll through at least the whole first page on Google before I give up.

is Jose THAT money on pick and rolls? Yes, he makes good decisions and gets the ball through when necessary... but many times last season, I'd just see him take 18ft jumpers... Good when it's going in, but not good when it was off which was more often than not.

I put him in a similar category as Lin. Looked good over a small sample, might turnout to be a good starter, but there is some risk involved with signing him.

In fact, a while back, when Lin was starting his huge run, and before Dragic started his, I suggested that I saw little difference between him and Dragic when watching tape. Kinda funny that Dragic ended up being the driver of another bandwagon that people are jumping on.

And he does. Doran looks dope in some highlight packeges. Whether he could sustain that over a full season remains to be seen, so there is risk, just like with Lin.

i don't want jose as our starting PG next year by any means, but he is money in the PNR, always has been. before his hamstring started sucking, he was great at getting to the basket off the curl.

regardless...it's tough having a PG who can't break his defender down and get into the lane by himself when we really don't have any other guys who can do it either.

Stupid comparison. This wasn't Dragic's rookie season. He was impressing in Phoenix when i watched him play and has played 271 games (4 NBA season).I know i've liked him for a couple years now since he played behind Nash. IMO he's a good scorer, can shoot the ball, break people down 1 on 1, is a pretty good defender. Is there a risk, i suppose there is some because of his limited starting time. But we've seen enough of him in 4 seasons to have an idea of what kind of player he is. He's certainly less of a risk than Jeremy Lin. JMHO

Nash>Lowry>Dragic>Jose>Bayless

my choice in order would be

1. Lowry
2. Nash
3. Dragic
4. Jose
5. Lin

If we upgrade both SG/SF positions, by all means let's keep Jose. But i'd rather move on from the Calderon era. It hasn't been kind to us despite some good moments.

The bold is my point. If you sign him, you sign him to start. You don't know if he can sustain starter level play over a full season.

Oh, and Lin can break people down 1 on 1 and is a decent defender, as well. More reason for the comparison.
