#raptors waiving J. Magloire, they'll try to find a deserved place in organization for him when he clears on Monday. Roster now set at 15.

I think he should have the roles of assistant coach and do community outreach.

But I still think he should launch the GTA's first NBL Canada team, the Scarborough Smashmouths.

he'll either get a job as another coach or a job with the franchise in a similar position as JYD has
either way, its something that will have him maintain a connection with the franchise and allow him to continue helping the young players, especially the bigs

Yeah, this has been expected since he signed the training camp contract. Hope they find a spot for him in the coaching ranks.

Can't we just give him a suit and court-side season tickets?

Reggie Evans talked about importance of being able to show things on the court to be able to influence others, referring to being hampered by the injuries early on, and the difference it made when being healthy.
I'm sorry to say this, but Magloire is too much of a bum to be great inspiration. Sure, he can talk of his determination, but his skills level will always undermine his credibility.

It was expected, its still sorta unbelievable how one year he's an all star and the next he's fallen off the charts. Most likely hell be sticking with the organization as something. As for big man coach, dont think were using him as inspiration, but his physicality that he brings to the table. Toughening up our bigmen and not shy away from contact. But i twas good while it lasted

This.

Imagine JV having a conversation with Dwight.

JV: "So Dwight who you been working with?"

Dwight: "Patrick mentored me up in Orlando and I worked with Hakeem during the Summer"

JV: "So who are you currently working with now"

Dwight: "Uh Kareem"

JV........

So who worked with the greats, so that they became greats?

Greatness does not beget greatness.

Here's a recent article about big man coaches in the NBA.

In NBA, value of ex-big men as coaches an up-and-down affair | NBA.com

True, but you have to surround yourself with the right people in order to produce to your maximum level.

i would say sometimes the player has the skills and the coaching could be considered more like mentoring. How to use those skills, pass on experience of game situations but also personality wise, show them how to deal with all the extra stuff of being a pro.

there's lots of people in managerial and coaching positions who haven't been allstars and there's lots of allstars who have been bad at management and coaching. Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan quickly come to mind (and yes i know Jordan wasn't an official GM, but it was obvious he was calling some managerial shots).
