Raptor123 is trolling on a huge level here...
The thing about Jose being overpaid as a backup is kind of irrelevent for the next couple years. We have a starting PG on a 5-6M dollar contract. 15M for a rock solid PG rotation is a fair price. Can't afford that at every position, but for your strongest or second strongest? Absolutely.

Now, next year if Jose re-signs for a more reasonable 5-6M per year going forward, I'd love to keep him long term (Lowry will probably end up at 10+M per year in a couple years - keeping our PG spot solid at roughly the same price).

Now, if Jose has interest as a starter at a higher salary, good for him. I wish him the best - he's a great PG, just not what our team needs moving forward in the primary spot.

Yeah in all honesty, I kind of hope he does have a bit of a mean streak hehe.

Sometimes I feel like Bargnani would try a little harder if he knew someone like Lowry wasn't afraid to bitch slap him in the locker room. (("3 motha funkin' rebounds Banana? what did I tell you about boxing out and being agressive? *slap* )) lol

I'd bet we see el mago averaging 10 boards a game in no time.

I have been on this site right from the beginning even going back to the previous board. Here's a quick history class for many ......since its been quoted that I have been wrong.

Calderon > TJ when many thought he was was our saviour
Calderon > Jack when many thought he was our savior
Calderon > Bayless when many thought he was our saviour
Calderon > Lowry when many thought he was our saviour

What do they all have in common...they are all cast offs looking to find find a spot to be a starter only to be disappointed because Calderon out plays them. They all come with the being younger and faster label lol what a joke many are getting fooled right now with Lowry....Lowry is so much younger then Calderon lol what a joke.

The problem with many is that they actually believe making a change just to make a change will get us over the hump. People we need a SF big time open up your eyes geeze i always hate to prove you guys always wrong. The point guard spot is the least of our problems.

Yes, and what happened in 2007 when TJ was starting and Jose was the backup PG, that's right, the raps' most successful regular season.

I don't see anyone here saying that Lowry is our saviour, nor do i remember anyone thinking any of those PG's in previous years INCLUDING JOSE was our saviour. Just because we think Lowry is better than Jose doesn't mean we think he's a saviour. And again, those other PG's (other than Bayless) are very much on par with Jose Calderon and at times outplayed him for long stretches. There is a reason why BC has discussed trading him the last 2-3yrs. As nice as he is, and nobody is saying he's terrible by any stretch he just might not be the answer here since we haven't won shit with him. Not saying it's all been on him either, just that Jose Calderon shouldn't be revered as some great player that should retire here and shouldn't be moved. Some talk as if we're the spurs and Jose is Tim Duncan.

History class my friend Jose was the key to the run. When Jose came in he took our second unit to another level. Remember being at the games and hearing the fans to get Jose in the game. Jose would go in and our team goes on a high . Personnally i would have liked to see Jose surrounded with better players that can shoot. Its amazing that he spoon feeds guys on our team that really can shoot.

Plus all this talk about his salary....if you guys remember he could have left the team for more money but he decided to stay in Toronto because unlike anyone else ever to wear a Raptor jersey he loves Toronto. We should retire his jersey some day. He will never be considered the best to ever wear the jersey but he will always be remembered as Toronto Raptor with the biggest heart for the team and the city.

2009-10 season Jose goes down AGAIN in mid december (we're out of the playoffs), Jarett Jack starts 36 straight games where we go 28-12 and are knocking on the door for 4th place in the conference. Bosh goes down, Jose in March goes back in as the starter after struggling off the bench and we end up missing the playoffs.

Ok we get it,you're a Calderon fanatic...but your responses sound borderline childish, I'll respond to your comments the way you would

Did you ever think that maybe Calderon was only kept because nobody else wanted him!? The only time a team did want him, they quickly snapped out of it said wtf are we doing?(The Bobcats)

In reality ,TJ was a having a great year the first season, but after he got clobbered by Horford on an eventual career ending foul,he became a different player

In reality, Jack isn't a PG but was still having a good year. He was mainly brought in because he was college teammates with Bosh and it would help persuade Bosh to sign an extension, once CB left there wasn't as much a need for Jack and his contract was moveable.

In reality, Bayless has played good when healthy and starting but has always been hurt.

In reality, Calderon and Lowry haven't even played a minute together on the same team to be compared and for you to say Jose>Kyle.

Your probably the type of fan when the season ends and Jose leaves as a UFA(if not moved before),to make threads calling him a traitor and have a picture of his jersey being burned as your sig!

If you remember Calderon signed for alot less to stay for Toronto. Remember BC telling the world that Calderon is going no where. Regarding the Bobcats deals change....just like we thought Nash was heading our way.

In reality ,TJ was a having a great year the first season, but after he got clobbered by Horford on an eventual career ending foul,he became a different player.
Yes TJ was having a great year but so was Calderon. Calderon brought the second unit to another level. I am not to sure how long you have been a Raptors fan you must remember how Calderon and the second unit would more times then not rally our team from being down to put us in the lead.

In reality, Jack isn't a PG but was still having a good year. He was mainly brought in because he was college teammates with Bosh and it would help persuade Bosh to sign an extension, once CB left there wasn't as much a need for Jack and his contract was moveable.

Ok i am fine what you said about Jack.....but again many on here thought that Jack was coming to put Jose back on the bench. In reality, Bayless has played good when healthy and starting but was always been hurt.

In reality, Calderon and Lowry haven't even played a minute together on the same team to be compared and for you to say Jose>Kyle.

Well Jose is a better shooter, passer, better play maker and a better person.Jose can rebound as shown with Casey wanting all 5 guys going to the basket.

Your probably the type of fan when the season ends and Jose leaves as a UFA(if not moved before),to make threads calling him a traitor and have a picture of his jersey being burned as your sig!
Hey you on to something right ....really i am surprised to finally see an NBA player not bitch and complain about management trying to move them. But then I am a fanboy who respects and supports Jose Calderon because as professional NBA player this guy loves his team the Raptors and he loves playing in Toronto Canada. When all other Raptors have jumped ship Jose Calderon truly bleeds Toronto.

Now there's a load of crap. He signed so fast because he couldn't believe how overpaid he would be here.

And there's no need to add condescending to your scorn/

Just a quick note. If you are going to call out someone for being new here, you should try to at least get your ability to post a readable comment down pat first.
