There is no comparison.
Well 4th tier is a stretch, he's better than that come on. But I agree that Lowry is better. At the very least I think he's better suited for Casey's system. Casey last would get frustrated with jose and constantly yell at him to push the ball after we'd make a stop. Jose would jog to half court, stop dribble for 15+ seconds and slow shit down. At least with Lowry he'll defend and push the ball in transition. Both are good PG's just different style. Like I said I think Lowry is a better fit. When was the last time we had a PG that could defend his position well?

In terms of passing, shooting, and court vision, Calderon is the better PG. He can also surprise the defense and get to the rim for that little flip-in layup that he likes.

When it comes to rebounding, quickness, drawing contact, and defense, Lowry is better. Who is 'better' overall, though, really depends on how the rest of the team plays and what the match-ups are. I think right now, they're equally good at different things, so it's hard to make a definitive statement.

Personally, if Jose doesn't get traded by the beginning of the season, I think we finally have a pair of quality PGs who can compliment each other well. Lowry is for sure better than Jack, Ford, or Bayless, and a much better defender than any of them, which is good for the team. But I foresee yet another conflict emerging about minutes played, especially with how Lowry responded to Dragic.

Having said that, I really hope we can trade Jose by the deadline. By then, we and other teams in a similar position as us will know what moves they need to make, and whether making a playoff push makes sense. Besides, both Jose and Lowry are too good to be coming off the bench, so it only makes sense to use Jose and his expiring as trade bait to fill out the roster.

Clearly Ben Uzoh is the best PG we have so this argument is irrelevant

I don't think Lowry reacted as much to Dragic, as I think he reacted more to the unwritten code that says if a starter loses his position to illness/injury, when he returns he should still be the starter.

Agreed. Jose's defense makes this not even close.

Lowry is a physical beast who goes at it on offense and defense.
Calderon is nothing more then an annoying fly,
it barely even makes a difference that he's on the court playing "D".

Might as well just put a cardboard cut out of him under the basket.
It would probably do a better job getting charging calls.

(For the record, I LOVE Jose and what he's done for the city of Toronto but come on folks, let's not be Homers here.)
Lowry is a far superior talent. Sorry boys and girls, but it's true.

but JO was a shadow of his former self.... I understand wanting change, but I'm not heralding Lowry as an untouchable, a franchise PG, a stud or a star. The difference he will make on this team over Jose will be negligible. It all depends on what talent we add not substitute for.

First of all, the difference he makes we simply don't know one way or the other. He has the potential to make a sizeable difference. Now it just depends on if he fits in Casey's system which I think he does, moreso than Jose. The love/hate for jose over the last three years has been astounding. A year ago this would be a different discussion to say the least.

Secondly, who has said he's a franchise player, stud or star? And as far as untouchable, again we'll have to wait and see but unless he because that stud, star nobody is untouchable. And that certainly applies to Jose as well who is even futher away from being a stud, star.

Ps: why bring up JO?

lowry is the better player hands down, but Jose is a better traditional point guard, or in other words, he has better court vision, better passing and is more likely to pass than to shoot/create for himself.

lowry is more of a scorer, but he's a good PG, unlike other combos like bayless etc

Again it's all about preference. Myself, I want a PG that can score and wants to score as well as also facilitate. But throw in defense and that's a no brainer to me.

16-17ppg/7apg + defense>>>>>>10ppg/9apg+ no defense

Oh, I thought you did when you said allstar big. My bad.

Agreed Lowry isn't a stud.. but yeah his youth and aggressiveness will be very welcome.... though some anemic offensive players like Ed and Amir will suffer.
