Ok, so you state that he's an upgrade... we just disagree on how much. No big deal, I just think Houston should have been much better than they were in that case

He's always been that way. Jose is not a bad player and i like the man but watching him sometimes drives me nuts.

Yeah, he has, just saying it's accentuated on this young team that is lacking additional ballhandlers and distributors. Jose's patience likely made our offence look less ugly more often than it did make it look stagnant.

I just watched a few Lowry vids on youtube, I have to be honest, he doesn't look too great to me. He's ok, but shit, you could make a pretty awesome Calderon highlite reel too if you wanted. I say screw it, unless you're getting a stud of a PG, why bother grabbing a guy that isn't going to be a game changer, or more importantly as a PG, a guy that can lead, and run a team.

That said, I was too lazy to writ more in th post Jeff, I WAS gonna say that I could obviously be wrong, I only watched 2-3 vids.... he just doesn't seem like a guy that runs the team...seems more like a really small 2 guy to me.

he's not a true PG, that's for sure
but he's an elite defender, good scorer and rebounder and plays hard

if he had cp3/rubio type of court vision, he'd be in the running for best PG.

You can't really do much better than something like that in a trade or free agency.

and he's cheap

I don't think Lowry would be as good here as he was playing in Houston

Actually, that's one of our lesser needs.

We need wings that can both play off the ball and have the handles to penetrate and distribute

Okay, Lowry>Calderon, but Calderon is also an $11 million expiring next year. I see Lowry as an upgrade, but I am not sure he could be a starter on a top-flight team.

#8>>>Ebanks.

I think the value of the #8 is too high to include in this sort of trade. If Colangelo drafts wisely, he should get a better player than Lowry for the long term.

it depends on how you rank the needs, by how much we're lacking something, or by how difficult it is to get that missing part.

By needs alone, we desperately need 3pt shooting above anything else, we've been abysmal in that category last year. However, 3pt shooting is not that difficult to find.

So by scarcity, we really need somebody who can create their own shot at a high rate/high level of efficiency. And just as badly we need a superstar. Alas, we're not getting either this year, and chances are good we won't have either for at least a few years from now on, until the next rebuilding project
