Default Lowry for our Draft pick

If we could undo the Lowry trade and get our pick back, allowing us to draft a young player on a rookie level deal under control for essentially 7 years or so and not have to worry about upping Lowry to a hefty contract, would you or would you keep Lowry?

If that player is 5-7th pick in a shit draft that wouldn't amount to much i'd still do it in a heartbeat. Ask me in 7 months....

I vote no and it was a hard one for me to decide, simply because, if not Lowry then who is the PG next season? I'd be happy to sacrifice the pick this year. I'm high on a few guys this year (Zeller, and Saric for instance) but if we don't have one this year, then I can live with it.

IF we miss out on next year's draft (that's much deeper and has better player potential) then yes I want my pick back!

stricly because this year's Draft class is being widely considered one of the worst in years, my answer is NO.

Saric reminds me more of Odom to be honest in that he's very comfortable holding on to the ball. I don't think he'll ever be an elite player at the NBA but I think he's got the potential to be a real good player on the right team. Obviously, like all young kids he needs to bulk up.

seems like they say this every year. we'll have a better idea in march/april. a top three pick can't be a bad thing, regardless of the draft.

I voted yes which probably is no surprise to anyone.....Carp this a very interesting poll....more and more are getting to see how bad this trade turned out to be....it just took some alittle longer then others.

Sad news though it will never happen......Kyle Lowry for many on here was like buying a brand new car........we all know what happens to the value of that new car when it leaves the lot.......once Lowry left Houston and landed in Toronto his value has dropped to the point that even if we tried to shop him we would be hard pressed to recoup anything close on what we gave up !!!!

If we have a top 3 pick, we have it regardless. We are really talking about a 4-10th pick versus Lowry.

In one of the shittiest drafts ever, Rudy Gay went 8th. Who cares what they say about a draft 8 months out.... means nothing.

We're also talking about cost moving forward, flexibility of picks being used in trade, control of an asset.... I know you're aware of this, but it's not as simple as you're suggesting.

No, at least you know what you can expect, and already see a developed player. No need to babysit for several years.

Timberwolves had Garnett and Marbury, what did they achieve?
No. 6 draft Johnny Flynn - where is he now?

I guess no. The big UNDO however is O'Neal for Hibbert.

Hibbert wasn't our choice. We picked him for the Pacers.

If I knew our record was going to be like this, I wouldn't have offered that pick with that kind of protection for Lowry. At most, I would have offered Terrence Ross because its likely a high pick this year and we can make a run at anohter high pick next year. Does building through the draft always work? No. But we acquire assets with good contracts and control that can be flipped for players/other pieces in the future if we wish. Boston did that to get the Big 3 when they got their championship.

If we never signed players down the stretch to 10 day contracts and traded Calderon last year we would have tanked properly. We would have ended up with a Barnes/Lilard, or heck if we won the draft Davis. We should have traded Calderon for a pick which was certainly available given the Cavs got one for Sessions.

When you tank, tank properly. The Cavs are in a good position, they actually have an asset in Varajeo that the Twolves and Raps are reportedely interested in. They could offer Williams/Pekovic, who knows. Plus they have Irving, other young pieces, another high draft pick, capspace, with no bad contracts.

Another mistake was drafting Ross over Drummond. Drummond was obviously only 18 and going to take a longer time to develop, but who gives a fuck, we have the time to let him develop.
