Awesome news! Lowry was always a professional here and finally grew up from any immaturity he had left. I'd say it has to do with him being a father, and the winning direction of the team

Either try and sign Lowry right now or trade that ass. Just heard his interview. Been down this road before. He's less commited verbally than guys who had every intention of leaving town. Live and learn.

Let's see what happens. I don't want it to turn out to be like the Bosh saga. He was such a bitch.

Can't sign him now. His max extension is for 7M per year, which he wouldn't even consider, if his agent isn't a complete idiot. Trade or risk free agency, those are the options.

I heard we have his bird rights? Can't we match someone else's offer?

Bird Rights are not restricted free agent rights. Only players coming off their rookie contracts are restricted, allowing their team to match any offers. Veteran players like Lowry are unrestricted, so the team has no right to match.

We CAN match in the sense that we can offer whatever they offer (more, actually), but then it comes down to whether he wants to play here, whether we want to offer enough to keep him, etc.

IMO we should not make any moves until the summer, and Masai should try and keep the following, do whatever necessary with the rest:

K Lowry
D Derozan
T Ross
J Val
P Patterson
T Hansborough.

If a good enough trade offer comes up for any other player I would not be mad if Masai took it. We also need a pick up a good backup vet center, and maybe decided if Gervais is the way to go with back up point guard. I hope Lowry tells Masai to keep these guys and he will stay ... He is playing better then Damon did back in the day.

Has Hansbrough really had that much of an effect that we want him as apart of our core? I think he kinda sucks.

I think his question might be more along the lines of, "If the Raptors have his Bird rights, why can they only offer him an extension that starts at $7M right now?"

BTW, I know you explained this in another thread a couple of weeks ago.

Agreed. Not that impressed. No real need to shed him, but no real need to keep him either. I don't like him, but that's just a style preference.

Oh, if it's that, then the answer is just that there's a limit to the raises you can give in an extension over the current salary, even if you have the player's Bird Rights.

I honestly can't see a noticeable difference between Chuck Hayes and PsychoT. Hayes plays bigger and T plays smaller. they give energy, outside of age, the two are interchangeable.

One big difference is that Chuck finds guys with nice passes, and Tyler does not pass, pretty much ever.

I would hope Tyler could be traded before the deadline.

Tyler is a better scorer and penetrates better with his awkward spinning move. I like Tyler's style better, Chuck doesn't really leave the ground a bit sluggish at times.

Hansborough is still young too and I think is solid off the back. I mean if Hayes wants to come back for the right price I am ll for it.

I just can't see Hansbrough getting the kind of minutes he would like. He's been completely supplanted by Patterson, and Hayes will get minutes as well. I think a trade would be best for all involved.
