Did you watch him playing before injury? Lowry is great young, hard nosed PG with no major weaknesses. He can shoot, defend, create for others and go hard to the rim. Sure he is not a hall of famer aka Steve Nash, but he would solve our PG problems right away.

The fact that he may or may not have been discussed here before is irrelevant to the question of his fit and talent. Perhaps a lot of posters here didn't watch a lot of Rockets games earlier in the season.

For example, someone in this thread claimed that any rookie that the Raptors draft at 8 will be as good as Lowry. Maybe down the road, but not now.

As for Nash, I think it's a risk. You know he's not long-term, so you have to believe that he can turn whoever they draft into the next Nash, because when Nash's contract is up, I doubt they will still have the cap space to get a top-level PG.

With the Lowry trade, you pick up a good starter and still get a prospect, with a chance to spend or trade some more this summer.

I'm not saying he wouldn't, I'm saying that Nash would too, but unlike Lowry, Nash also brings a boatload of intangibles that could be used to mentor another rook PG that wouldn't be any less a player that Lowry is really. Hell Lillard already look that good.

I'm just saying that there is way more going on than just what you see when the bright lights come on, way more man. Sure you do ok with Lowry, sure he's decent, but you get NONE of the other things you get when Nash comes, none of the exposure, none of the press, none of the fans going ape, none of it,,,yet with nash, you get all of that, you draft a guy as good as Lowry, and you're set for the next 10 years. This is not something that should even be questioned man.

Well, not exactly true based on you stating the starting point was when he became "available".

The article about Lowry having beef with McHale was published on May 26th. But weeks before that people were anticipating that Houston would make one PG available, simply because Dragic was playing like a starter and it seemed likely that Houston would have a PG controversy. People saw something coming, even if the beef with McHale didn't happen.

I can find dozens of posts from before May 26th where people are talking about Lowry. He wasn't technically "available" yet, but people anticipated that he was a good possible pick-up. They wouldn't have anticipated that possiblity if they didn't know he was a quality player that shouldn't be on the bench.

Signing Nash would mean no more good FA for a while (he would cost us 11mil or so while Lowry cost around 6), but So lets say we dont trade for Lowry, and Nash decides to sign with other team.. And than we tank for the next 2-3 years.. YaY!

Ya but may is very recent to me dude. October is too. Lowry has been in the league a bit now.

Anyhow, no matter, you know what I am saying, I'm sure of it. This has nothing to do with Lowry for me, it has everything to do with Toronto doing something big for a fanbase that truly deserves the entertainment.

A game from February, long before offseason speculation started.

Wouldn't happen unless Nash already made the deal, and you won't know that, only the GM knows that.

People here are over-valuing Lowry. He isn't the savior, he won't make DeRozan or Bargnani an all-star, and he won't become an all-star himself. We will trade for Lowry and still suck, that is the cold hard truth.

He's young and only got a starting position in 2011. October is recent? Fine, semantics.

I don't know what kind of talk you expected, in order to prove people genuinely think he's good. I think you're just trying to stir the pot.

No one is saying Lowry would be our saviour. But by adding Lowry, JV, late 1st and a FA SF signing, we become competitive.

With Nash we just lose cap space. Great player, but we'll just be back in this situation in a year or two.

I don't think he'll be an all-star either. But he is a young, solid PG on a modest contract. The Raps could do worse. For me, it all comes down to what they have to give up to acquire him.

anyhow, you're killing me, none of this shit is important when compared to what Nash could mean for Toronto basketball.

Anyhow, whatevs. EITHER way, I think Toronto is looking good in the future, just one scenario is a trillion times better and mor fun

I wouldn't do anythting today either, not because of Lowry or Nash though. I'd want to see who is on the board at 8. There is so much god damn speculation and bullshit right now that there are claims to about 50 different scenarios/combinations happening in the top 10. You don't commit to anything until you know what's there.
