Lowe's All chucker team

And the hits just keep on coming.

Quote:

Andrea Bargnani

Bargnani may have surpassed Boozer in the unpopularity contest. He's shooting 37 percent, his free throws have dropped off, and he has somehow regressed on the boards and as a help defender. The cries to dump Bargnani get louder with each late-game Toronto collapse, the latest of which featured Jrue Holiday blowing by Bargnani on a switch and hitting Jason Richardson for a clutch 3.

But the Raptors scored at a bottom-three rate without Bargnani last season, and a big man with legit 3-point range that can be deployed at high volumes is enormously valuable simply for floor spacing.

Which brings us back to context and defense. Bargnani's a liability on the latter front, outside of some decent one-on-one post defense, and the context is changing in Toronto. Kyle Lowry is a borderline All-Star who can penetrate the defense, and DeMar DeRozan, flashing an improved post game, can at least tread water as a no. 1 option in Lowry's injury-related absence. Jonas Valanciunas will get better down low. Bargnani's contract is amnesty-eligible, and he has two years left after this one at a relatively affordable price.

Bargnani has zero respect around the league. It's really quite sad.

give it a rest will ya

DDUnreal 11-21-2012 03:13 PM

What is there to rest? I doubt he has much respect around the league. Maybe from some coaches but I doubt any players give him anything.

I'm surprised Al Jefferson is there. He seemed pretty efficient to me. Guy was taking it inside over and over against us. He has a PER of almost 20. I wish we had that chucker on our team! lol

He's averaging 15.4ppg on 14.5 shots per game. For a big that plays at the rim that's pathetic. Someone's per means absolutely nothing if it isn't efficient.

FLO 11-21-2012 03:24 PM

He could definitely be more efficient offensively, but at the same time at the very least he provides a good all-around game when he isn't scoring that well. A lot of the players on that list are very one-dimensional.

LKeet6 11-21-2012 03:51 PM

westbrook, bryant, melo, bargs would the 1-4 for sure!

INSIDER 11-21-2012 03:55 PM

bargs is there without a doubt. the guy parks at the 3 point line and chucks at will. i for one cant take it anymore... i know that (in Leo's voice) 'shooters just have to keep shooting to get out of their slump', but the guy has become a handicap for us now because he isnt doing anything else. the one thing bargs does for us is score, and now that he isnt scoring and is missing 63% of the time, we get nothing else from him - except bad D.

Sigh...

I guess none of you actually read the article, huh?

The article is about players who are generally considered chuckers, and how they are actually much more valuable to their team than they seem.

Al Jeff is a worse defender than Bargnani. He is terrible, both man to man and help wise. He is of course a good rebounder, but his offence and defence both leave much to be desired.

i read it and i fundamentally disagree that they are valuable to their team.

sounds about right

Dario 11-21-2012 04:43 PM

we can amnesty bargs?

LX 11-21-2012 04:46 PM

If his value comes from finding the right balance as this piece suggests, then he really needs to see a cut in minutes. There's just no point in the 40 minute outings, unless he's having a definitive impact in any particular game. I'm sick of the dude, but right now I'm more pissed at how he's being used than how he's playing.

Anyone under contract here before last December can be amnestied.

Zalgiris 11-21-2012 05:09 PM

Hasheem from OKC obviously has no respect for Bargs either. And when guys like Thabeet doesn't respect you, no one will. Worst part is that Andrea has no problem with that. On the other hand, why should he give a fuck what others think of him.

Admiral 11-21-2012 09:59 PM

Ben Gordon
Nick Young
Jordan Crawford
Nate Robinson
