Raptors Lowe: Market for Lowry next summer could be cool

Kind of what i've been saying as far as the market goes. The number he's throwing out there is certainly low though. This article is about the trade deadline, but found this interesting......

Which Wild-Card Team Will Surprise Us?

1. Denver Nuggets
2. Atlanta Hawks
3. Brooklyn Nets

4. Toronto Raptors

The Rudy Gay trade invigorated a moribund team with depth and clear-cut roles, but as the great David Aldridge at NBA.com reported Monday, Masai Ujiri, the team’s whip-smart GM, is always on the prowl. The Raps have a lot of dead or semi-dead salary they’d like to move, an extra first-round pick courtesy of the Knicks (BARGS BARGITTY BARGS!), an aggressive ownership group, and a potential hole at point guard next season as Kyle Lowry enters free agency.

Lowry is ornery, but he’s also very good, and the market for him could be cool this summer. Most of the 10 or so teams set to have $10 million or more in cap space don’t need a point guard, and Lowry’s clashes with head coaches could deter the rest. The Raps may well be able to re-sign him at something like $21 million or $24 million over three seasons, and that should be a happy outcome for everyone.

He makes a good point. Most teams already have a starting point guard. There's a lot of good point guards out there in today's NBA. I think the Lakers could be interested and have a ton of cap space, but that could change if they pick up Carmelo, Deng, and/or re-sign Gasol. Other than that, Orlando, Utah, or Bucks if they want to turn things around and compete.

One of the Suns 2 star PG's might be coming available as well. And who knows how many starter worthy PG's the draft will bring?

Surprised Orlando isn't on the list. They have a young team with guys like NV, VO, Harkless, Harris, etc and also have AA. They have capspace too. I can definitely see them going after him should they not draft Smart or Exum.

The Knicks are in fact interested in Toronto's Kyle Lowry. Classic Knicks. Could have had him two months ago, backed out now want him again.

Me too. I think he'd ask for all 3 of Hardaway, Shumpert, and the pick rather than 2/3. If hypothetically he was offered that I think that's an offer he can't refuse.

Not a friggin' chance brotha, the price just went up even if it's just based solely on the fact that they backed out. Any good business man would make the price steeper. Those Knicks are really fucked, whoever has their 1st rounder this year is going to get a decent pick.

Basically their only assets (not including Melo) are Hardaway Jr, Shumpert, and their 2018 pick

I am not counting on us bringing him back. There is always the dark horse in the race that might get tempted of making a blockbuster deal/ waiving etc for cap space and signing Lowry. I would be very surprised if KL is Raptor next year.

Can't forget Bargs is an asset (I never want to see him anywhere near this team again.)

I would try to blackmail the nuggets into trading us the NYK pick in 2016. We can threaten to trade lowry to the knicks, with devastating impact to the pick they're getting this year.
I would offer demar for farried and that 2016 pick in exchange for not trading lowry

Demar for Faried, filler, and the Knicks 2016 pick would be an amazing get. Denver isn't that insane though.

Will Kyle Lowry be a Raptor past the trade deadline?

Chad Ford (1:08 PM)
I'd be surprised. They've been aggressive looking for the right deal for him.
