According to Doug Smith this morning on the Fan,he talked to BC late last night (10:30) and said he was trying to trade fo a pick in the late first round or early second!Let's hope he does and there's some decent picks especially if they can get a late first rounder.

If he can pull it off, he certainly does look like the early frontrunner for NBA exec of the year again.

Who else do we have to offer that would catch us a late 1st or early 2nd round pick?

What are the chances though that anyone we draft with the 41st, actually make the roster this fall? Probably not that good.

It'll probably be someone they can stash in Europe for a few years - like a Damjan Rudez - a 6-10 SF from Croatia or Semih Erden 7-0 C from Turkey - or a guy who I think will be a very solid player - Goran Dragic, a 6-4 PG from Slovenia - who was very good at the workout camps this year.

There are without a doubt players who can make the roster available at 41.

Toronto currently has 9 players under contract (that includes O Neal and Calderon)

We need bodies, and we've only got the mid level to spend. Assuming BC would like to use that mid level on one player who will make some sort of legitimate impact, that leaves us with a draft pick and a couple veteran minimums.

So basically, unless something changes, look for BC to use the 2nd rounder on depth at the point or in the paint. We simply don't have the luxury to be picking Euros and stashing them overseas. We need players and we need them cheap.

If we can get a four year senior with a half decent game and his head screwed on straight, then signing him to a rookie minimum deal is a great way to fill roster spots. That's why BC will be looking to acquire more late first or second rounders (likely from Seattle or Portland, who are in the opposite position. Too many draft picks to fit on their roster)

It's not too often you'll catch re-runs of a draft Major. You might have to You Tube certain parts.
