Decision to stay in "Lietuvos Rytas", Vilnius for another year will be the best for Jonas Valančiūnas career, assures the president of club Getvydas Vainauskas.

According to the president, it's too early for Jonas Valančiūnas, who was selected by the 5th pick, to go to the NBA.

"Knowing that in "Lietuvos Rytas" Valančiūnas will get plenty of playing time and that national team will need him for the upcoming Olympics in London, staying in Vilnius would be the right choise for all comers: Valančiūnas, "Lietuvos Rytas", national team and the entire Lithuanian basketball", - Vainauskas told portal "lrytas.lt".

After the NBA Draft "Lietuvos Rytas" and Toronto "Raptors", team that selected Valančiūnas, agreed that Lithuanian stays in Vilnius for another year and after that his contract is over he's free to move to Canada.

However, the buyout will have to be payed beforehand. Which is announced to be 2.4 million USA dollars.

Vainauskas, the president of "Lietuvos Rytas" said, that both sides: "Lietuvos Rytas" and Valančiūnas refused money while negotiating.

"Valančiūnas understood, that "Lietuvos Rytas", refusing a lot of money - around half of a million dollars - is wishing for the best to Valančiūnas, what concerns his career. By staying in Vilnius for another season, Valančiunas also lost some money, because a contract with "Raptors" could be made right now. But the player is worth some credit, as he understood where it would be the best for him to improve and that the biggest contracts are waiting for him in the future", - Vainauskas said to "lrytas.lt".

The head of "Lietuvos Rytas" reminded the example of Martynas Andriuškevičius, who rushed to the NBA after a single season in "Žalgiris".

"We all can see, what did he become from one of the most promising Lithuanian basketball players", - Vainauskas said about Andriuškevičius.
