Lineup Changes Looming

So not only might we have to deal with Jose being out the lineup tomorrow, but Sam might finally shake things up and take Moon out (Thank god) in favour for either Kapono, Graham or even Bargnani.

That was an idea general manager Bryan Colangelo floated in the summer, but one that Mitchell has not yet embraced.

There is less of a chance that Mitchell will opt to start Anthony Parker at point guard if Calderon cannot play. Parker played the point for a few minutes during Wednesday's loss to Philadelphia.

Mitchell wasn't tipping his hand yesterday, apart from repeating the team had to play better defence to stop giving foes such clear shooting opportunities. As to whether he expected a lineup change, captain Chris Bosh laughed and said: "That's why I'm glad I'm not the coach."

that would be stupid ... bargnani with bosh AND O'Neal is going to be severely limited, since he will get few touches, almost exclusively on the perimeter. And on defense he will be worse than moon and kapono defending 3s. And this wasn't an idea Bryan "floated" this summer, I remember when he was asked about it on FAN 590 and he said "it's a possibility", but didn't sound enthusiastic about it at all.

But hey, it's the Sun - what can you expect ....

Backup PGs and wings will got it done. Sam needs to trust them more, not use his patented hook and make angry face on every mistake.

Absolutely.

He can trust in the fact that they suck.

Its not like Kapono and Moon play defense anyways. Kapono has no lateral quickness to guard any decent wing man in the NBA anyways and if Moon isn't jumping up and down like a Pogo stick his BBIQ will force him off his man someway. Its not hard for Bargs to match the defensive intensity of these two careers so personally I'd like to see it happen for small spurts of the game. Maybe just maybe showing that Mitchell will make such a drastic move will force all the wing men to wake up.

i kinda wanna see joey going up against beastly, but i wouldn't be up in arms about us playing bargs at small forward since the heat line-up with three power forwards as well anyways.

Gurk 11-15-2008 02:19 PM

Finally Sam makes some sense. Get Moon out of there until he figures out what his game is- driving to the basket, and rebounding

LX 11-15-2008 02:31 PM

Except that driving to the basket is not at all what his game is, but rather something he fears. Rebounding and flashing into the lane would be nice though.

I still want Kapono in for Parker. Try Joey in for Jamario, but I just don't know if it matters which one is in there, as long as JK can start firing away.

Bargs at 3, he's too slow.period.

Ugo Ferst 11-15-2008 03:32 PM

Sick of saying it, but start Joey already!!

phoenix_bladen 11-16-2008 03:37 AM

why not put bosh at 3?

The MVP of West Hollywood 11-16-2008 04:41 AM

I say start Joey. At least he actually trys on the boards and looks like he wants to prove he belongs out there. And you can't get worse than Moon and Kapono out there.

Shifty.py 11-16-2008 08:46 AM

Yep, really good time to experiment with lineups. NOT.

To start Joey don't you think he needs to PLAY Joey first?

Snooch 11-16-2008 09:02 AM

Joey absolutly MUST start at 3. Moon is a much better fit with Bargs anyway, or at least he was when Moon got rebounds.

Windex 11-16-2008 10:02 AM

C Haslem 6'8''/PF Beasley 6'9''/SF Marion 6'7''/SG Wade 6'4''/PG Chalmers 6'1''

C O'Neal 6'11''/PF Bosh 6'10''/SF Bargnani 7'0''/SG Parker 6'6''/PG Calderon 6'3''

When did the team get so tall.

How bout Bosh at 3. I think he can guard Marion better than Bargs. Beasley isn't that physical so it should be easier for Bargs

Gurk 11-16-2008 11:35 AM

The Heat players will just blow right past most of those players. I say start Graham and he doesn't play good then put Moon in for him. Bargs at SF is like a last resort IMO
