Default Linas Kleiza Olympics thread

He's absolutely tearing it up in the Olympics. Why is he getting no recognition from people around here?

He even went to town on USA. 25 PTs 5 rebounds 3 assists 1 TO.

"that can't be the same Linas Kleiza who plays for the Raptors." Elliotte Friedman

Look like his knee is finally healthy.

Friedman is a hockey guy.... they all are. Linas gets no love, and too few really understand the uncertainty involved in the recovery process of microfracture knee surgery. Hopefully Kleiza continues to shine.

Most of us like Kleiza when healthy & he hasn't been healthy in a Raptors uniform...
So why would we get excited?

He's always been good when playing for Lithuania. I believe his performance in FIBA World Championship in 2010 was the reason why Raptors signed him. Also Lithuania's game is centered around him. For Raptors, as far as I know, he plays SF position while for Lithuania he plays PF. That also must make the difference...

Friedman knows his sports though, unlike most hockey guys. He's covered a lot of basketball. I've always liked him.

Shit, I didn't think you liked anyone, Jeff.

It's true, Mr. Friedman knows some basketball.

cause there are a lot of peeps on here that post the same shit, bitching about the same players in the same threads --> so nice initial post RaptorsFan4Life!..

its about time someone made a post about whats going on in the Olympics, specifically with team Lithuania considering we got two key players of ours on that team, one of which is completely tearing it up and the other getting absolutely no playing time and love from his national side and suffering as a result.

What a shame (for BC and the Raps brass) it would be if Kleiza outplayed Fields for the starting SF spot. And BC dished out all that coin for a bench SF...this is a high possibility seeing how Kleiza's recovered from his knee surgery.

Yea Friedman knows basketball, he's stated on the FAN that he had to focus more on hockey because this is Canada after all.

He's playing well but it doesn't really matter because he's not going to be playing the same role on this team as he is currently. If this helps him get in better shape and superb confidence going in to the season though, I'm happy he's there and playing well. But it's not going to change his role on this team in the big picture.

I think Kleiza can become a consistent 14-16 ppg guy off the bench, if Jose is still here

Well if he continues to play like he is there is a very big chance of him becoming a starter. And that is already a big change in role

If he starts for us at any point for an extended period of time next year, we will not make the playoffs. He cant guard anybody, and his offence is way too inconsistent. We already have Derozan in that role, heh.

his defense isn't that bad, but consistency is the biggest issue. However i much rather see him off the bench, i still hope that Fields will play much better than he did last year.. Kleiza is more clutch though, he could be on the floor to close the games along with Bargs and Lowry

I would give ALL of DD's touches to Kleiza if he's back to 100% and playing like this. Without hesitation.

linas kleiza is a nice player but he needs to be more consistent as a raptor

before he signed that contract with the Raptors linas was balling out of control, many media members on nbatv thought he was the best player the Raptors had

Doesn't he always play better when playing for Lithuania vs when he plays in the NBA?

hard to give all, but I agree! I'd even give him some of those leftover Bosh dump-ins that have yet to be handed out!
