Default Let's talk about SOMETHING positive.

Demar Derozan played very well last night, and has played increasingly better as the garbage minutes have piled up of late. I think the kid is showing he has the skills to be a really good player in this league. He's patient, doesn't force his game, attacks the rim, makes a nice pass now and then. If he can stretch his shot to the 3 point line and get better on defence, and then with the general confidence that comes with maturity and experience do what he does against scrubs against the big talent in this league I think he can be good!

What do you guys think about DD's recent play?

I'm impressed that even without a real good handle on the ball he's been able to beat some guys and get to the rim where he's actually an extremely good finisher with both hands. He's got a really good sense for the ball off the glass too. He already rebounds better than any of our guards.

Aside from the handle and the jump shot the kid's gotta bulk up, which will help him finish with contact. I'm excited to see DeMar grow, we've got an exciting player to look forward to.

props to SWAN for a change of pace.

DD is still growing in stature so him bulkin out will happen and maybe hes not done growing in height yet which could be interesting. ive got high hopes for the future for this dude. we all thought he would take a few seasons to even begin to look like a provider, but it seems to be coming to him early which is nice to see.

He should be coming off the bench and cutting his teeth against bench players...I think this is evident by how confident he is in garbage time and really, he's an afterthought out there with the starting unit.

I actually see positive from Bargs and Jose:

Banana - I think his 1on1 post D is awesome..banana's help D is basically nil, I think he's just too confused of when to help, but his 1on1 D I think is solid enough and you can tell he's trying (waving his arms like a freak). I notice he has improved rebounding, despite Bosh basically running Banana over or ripping the ball away from him for his own stats. Many ppl said, if Banana's could grab a couple of boards more they would be happy - well I think he's done that.

5. Jose - has anyone noticed how he is making more risky passes, I've noticed he's been aggressive and making good passes esp early in the game, ally ops attempts to Bosh and demar, ppl ripped on him being too conservative, now they found something new to rip on (his D), but again who really can STOP PG pentration, Jose is also able to blow by his man too!!!

Don't forget that no one pass's him the ball accept for Jose...

& Bosh & AB aren't passing to anyone LOL

I have atleast seen glimps of great leaping ability in recent games...He does have to different hights that he can jump...

The one positive thing about the Raptor's suckiness is the fact I have cashed my last two Sports Action tickets by keying them to get beat.

I understand the logic of starting DD and think in the longterm it will speed up his development having played against alot of quality starters in the league. The thing is i dont think that it necessarily helps the team starting a rookie against guys like Wade, Carter and S.Jax. I would like to see DD come in and get more mins with the second unit and go against some of the opponents bench guys, this way the raps could get him much more involved in the offense. He has also shown that he can be a bit of a spark bringing energy and speed becoming a real pest on the defensive end aswell.

Agree with you. I also think Turk should come off the bench and Amir be put in the starting lineup. I would put Antoine in there for Demar and tell him to concentrate on defence and moving the ball. I think Wright's game would turn around if he was in the starting lineup in a simple defensive role as well as keeping his man off the boards and getting more rebounds. Bosh, Bagnani. Johnson, Wright and Calderon is a much more balanced lineup both rebounding wise and defensively. Johnson and Wright would help cover for Jose's lack of defence and Andrea"s lack of rebounding and post defence. There would still be plenty of firepower there also.

Demar would be a great scorer off the bench and could take on more responsibility on offence. Turk, Jack and Bellinelli would bring plenty of firepower off the bench according to game circumstance and would not get as abused defensively against other team's second units. Either way, Triano's lack of experimentation with the starting lineup is ridiculous. It obviously does not work as is.

I feel it is too late to try & start bringing him off the bench...It will hurt his confedence & even might make him abandon what he is trying to do right now which is try & get better game by game...

& if Bosh is gone before the trade deadline or after this year, what are we going to bench DeRozan now & then have him start again after Bosh is delt?
