Thriller, I thought I'd bring it up here as well.

I'd also try to work out a way to get David Blatt as his top assistant.

Unfortunately it won't happen Mike especially when BC already committed to say that Sam will be back once again this fall.

Wishful thinking though.

Why would Flip want a guy bouncing around the European coaching ranks, who he presumably doesn't know as his lead assistant?

And why would he want the Raptors job and do you think he's really going to take a position that his good freind just got realeased from?

We've heard comments from the Pistons (Curry included) to the effect that Flip was safe not two days ago!

Words mean nothing in this league.

1. BC has been known to hire first assistants in Phoenix.
2. Does Flip have a better choice at this point? I mean, other than getting out of coaching for a season.

Sam's disappointed me in the past too, but our issues go far beyond the coach.

A good friend of mine from St. Catharines once shared some wise words with us here. It's hard to make shit shine.

Chicago is taken. Phoenix is on its last legs - small wonder D'Antoni bolted and noone wants that job. Miami is rebuilding.

I forgot about Collins, but it still isn't official.

Miami is rebuilding, but with a high pick, Wade and cap space I think it's more attractive than Toronto.

The Suns still have a good team and IMO a coach like Saunders would do well there. D'Antoni was a large part of the problem.

He could also sit back and wait for the very uncreative Mike Brown to get canned and coach his hometown Cavs.

Miami already signed a head coach, he was Rileys lead assistant.

The Suns dont look like that great of a situation, they MAYBE have one year left of being able to win a round or two then its rebuilding time.

Here he'd have a better chance to go further in the playoffs, and he has one of the best gms in the league by his side.

And Cleveland firing Brown would just be bad because its Ferrys fault they suck.

given that we were a .500 team, if you believe that we have no talent and sam did a sub-par job, than how come we got so many wins? Either you think that Sam was an overachieving genious that got a bad team (with lots of injuries) to a good record, or you think that Sam underperformed, in which case our team should be very good team since it still finished where it did ...

And how many wins did we get against good teams who didn't have their fair share of injuries this past season? Not many. We beat the Spurs, Hornets, Rockets, Mavs and Pistons and the rest of our wins were against .500 teams or worse. Definitely nothing to brag about. So yes, this team for the most part is very weak.

So, Sam did a decent job in my opinion for what he had to work with. Not saying that I think he's the best coach in the league because he's far from it, but its nauseating how much he gets blamed for this team's short comings.

At what point is Colangelo held accountable too?

We might as well get a new GM then. He's the guy that signed Mitchell for four years remember. He might as well fire himself. But guess what - it ain't happening. Colangelo is happy working with Sam and isn't looking to form another relationship with just any random coach. There are no signs that the contrary is true.

And there will be plenty of opportunities for Flip and his nervous jaw-jutting ways.

What you're failing to understand LX, is that every problem with the Raptors is caused by Sam, not management or the players themselves and the other 29 teams problems stem from management and the players, not the coach.

Jesus Acie, take a step back and rethink what I just read.

A bit over the top no?

We've actually beatean ALL playoff teams with the exception of: Denver, LA, Phoenix and Utah. It's kind of obvious that most of our wins would come against under .500 teams given that fewer teams have records above .500 and they are usually much better.

As for Sam, he did a mediocre job - I think you will find very few people to give him good grades for his job this season.

I'm not going to debate the Colangelo matter, I think it's iressponsible to even question his performace -for me he's the Toronto Raptor's God and every fan should pray that he'll never leave this organization. I'm not saying he's perfect, but he's definitely one, if not the best GMs in the league.
