Question Is Less Really More For Sam This Season?

Did Colangelo do Sam a favour when dealing away contributors & depth with the likes of Ford, Rasho and Delfino? Not saying that any of them were really difference makers, but they were proven as oppose to guys like Roko, Solomon, Sampson, Adams, etc. Does this also mean that Smitch will FINALLY be forced to a certain degree to go with a smaller rotation instead of his random substitutions or 12 man rotations?

As Sam was quoted in Feshchuk's article this morning, is the lack of depth a good thing and something that will help make his job easier as a coach? As Arsenalist mentioned in his blog this morning, will this also help Sam define more roles with this new look team too?

Thoughts?

All this is being spun as a good thing by Sam Mitchell, the Toronto coach: "That's why we thinned out the roster – it makes it easier for me to coach."

Mitchell's less-is-more theory goes that last season's club had too many options off the bench, which meant he was tempted into quick-hooking players. Now he's saying a roster tweak that limits his combinations is a "good thing." Try and follow the logic.

I think looking at what happens on the offensive end just misses the point of what they did to the roster. Instead of having a bunch of guys required to do more than they are really able, he can now make use of guys with more specialized roles. Sam's job will be more about who compliments who best and in what role. And a lot of that thinking will begin and end with making the defense stronger, and making the best use of a strong defense in transition.

"away contributors & depth with the likes of Ford, Rasho and Delfino?"

Are you kidding me. Depth? Ford was selfish and was good until our backup became good. Once he was injured and cal took starting role, ford was done on this team. He tires to win games on his own and makes sloppy pg decisions.
Rasho, Well this guy had his best half season ever last year, so the only thing this guy is only going downhill now. he was shit in the first half of last year. and over all was no better then bargs, which everyone pretty much hates so rasho is shit.
Delfino was a deacent plaer that we lost but: he wanted to much money for his skill, and also he was one of those hard on off players. Some days he was on fire, others he was complete total shit.

All three players were on off (except ford but his injuries hurt him a ton). In my eyes getting rid of ford + rasho was one of the best thigns we could have done.

Hahaha, now the pacers can deal with ford since he is the only good pg on the team, and rasho can contine his overpaid role playing and his only way of making points - the 15 footer.

I agree with Delfino being too inconsistent. What will determine how much we miss him will be the play of all the new acquisitions previously mentioned.

On the subject of Rasho I think he would be sorely missed if he wasn't being directly replaced by JO. Sure Rasho can only score from 15 feet out... the thing is that he knew his limitations and that made him really efficient in my eyes. When he took his close range hooks they rarely missed. If he didn't have a good shot he kicked it out to the perimeter. That can't really be said about many other players on this team. I think Rasho is really underrated and it was a shame he had to go.
