TL has 3 options?

1) PJ
2) Other alternatives
3) Colangelo

the next draft would be projected as extremely strong even if Wiggins was ineligible. S

Anyway, i don't think MLSE wants to rebuild through the draft.

In which case I think someone like Pritchard would be a great fit. He made his name with high draft picks, but it's his trading, free agency and low pick drafting that's been the most impressive IMO.

His talent evaluation ability is impressive. Curious, is Pritchards ability better than someone like Mike Zarren who uses advanced Analytics?

I hope he'll be great, but the Raps could easily have the worst record from tanking and still not get #1 overall.

As far as the article, just a lot of smoke in my opinion. The only thing I got from it is that the Raptors aren't close to making a decision either way and are fine with that. Also that Colangelo isn't gonna be bullied into resiging so he'll wait for a decision and continue his job in the meanwhile. The battle seems to be between whether picking up the option vs multi year deal rather than keep Colangelo vs hiring a new person.

Logic says Bryan Colangelo set a deadline on Toronto either picking up option or not. Other way around doesn't make sense.

@raptorshq Weaver turned down Utah, his long-time team last month. Would he suddenly decide to leave for Toronto instead?

Makes a lot sense, said that already but Ryan has a nicer delivery

Who is this Weaver from OKC - don't know a thing about him?

Did Jim Paxson find LeBron? More like fell into his lap. Sam Presti is probably still lighting a candle in church every Sunday and thanking god that he didn't get the no.1 pick in Oden draft.

noone could have predicted the injuries. if oden turned into even half of what they were making him to be he would be the best center in the league by far. its sad really

there's no doubt in my mind that we're exploring our options. having a new boss gives good justification to string BC along, but not for a second do i believe these reports that sources keep tipping to our reporters.

I would LOVE pritchard, he's my favourite unemployed GM and he's exactly what we need. He really got no support in Portland, but even so, without the horrible bad luck they would have been one of the top if not the best team in the league now. Imagine a healthy roy and oden along with Aldridge - they were a 50 wins team back when Aldridge was still developing and without Oden.

Another reason why I'd love Pritchard is that I really hope we take a chance on Oden - that could be a major coup. His injuries were not the type that destroy a career, especially for somebody who doesn't rely on athletic abilities all that much. Even if we only get him for a few years, it would be like getting a free #1 pick ....

come on, EVERY GM and pretty much every nba fan would have drafted Oden - he was as sure of a #1 pick as anybody since lebron.

That's an overstatement.... it was nearly 50/50 at the time... Lebron was 100/0. Relax though, there was sarcasm laced beneath.

No it wasn't. It wasn't unanimous, but it was damn close. Oden was #1 on almost everyones mock drafts. Every GM would have picked him.

And I'd love to get Pritchard too. He made some very good moves in Portland, especially draft wise in trading for 1st round picks. I'd be ecstatic if we got him, he knows how to build a team. He was let go because him and the Portland owner didnt see eye to eye(I know theres more to the story than that, maybe Toby can enlighten us)

I remember this debate coming up before around here. As Acie pointed out, Oden had issues with his legs well before the draft. I think he had surgery on his hip in high school or something. When he later hurt his hand in college, there were a few people wondering if this was forshadowing something. Anyway, you could probably find at least a few GMs that would have gone with Durant, although Oden was the favorite overall.

are you sure? I don't remember any injuries concerns with Oden. I also seem to recall there was an informal poll did by espn's chad ford and all 30 GMs chose Oden as their first pick. It was close because Durant was also so very good, but nobody would have dared to pass on oden.
