Raptors Leandro Barbosa

Am I the only one that constantly forgets that he's on our team?

When he is healthy, he is a very good player. Here's hoping that he gets back to the form he had in Phoenix.

You mean the one or two years he had in Phoenix? I have to admit I enjoyed him then. But that was all about him being just about the only option while he was on the floor. I question whether he could still be effective in that kind of role, or whether it is the kind of role this team needs. Maybe he could develop a nice chemistry with a guy like Bayless.

one or two years?

I think Barbosa is our most skilled wing at the moment.... kind of sad, but he'd be an ideal offensive player off the bench for a successful team.

He's good as gone. Remember, he is going to be a free agent in the coming year. Possibly we already seen the last of him in a Raptor uniform with the lockout.

Yeah - one or two years where he managed to be more than a one-dimensional player that was hard to fit into a system. To me, an ideal player off the bench is able to do more than one thing over and over, even if that one thing is pretty remarkable. For a couple of seasons he could light things up off the bench one night, and be one of many scoring threats on another night. That took a lot of work to keep him disciplined and fully integrated with that team, and it was invaluable with their 8-man rotation. But when he settled into predictable patterns, he started to hurt his team on too many nights, even while putting up decent numbers. His numbers started to come t the expense of other contributors.

i think he was useful a lot more often than he hurt us last season, and he wasn't 100% a lot of the time.

I like his attitude, he'll get you points, couple of assists (would love 3 or even 4, he's got the IQ to do it.)

black hole is harsh for me but i must admit there's some truth to it. He did really frustrate me at times and the 1 dimensional thing is kind of true as well, if the shot is off give us something else leandro, like assists.

could well be he is a better fit as a role guy on a contender. Another nice young piece for him could be good, or even could that be a way to get the vet C? wouldn't get held to ransom on wages there, our choice. any suggestions?

His speed and shooting weren't 100% last year, but I really lilked his effort on D.
Casey could insert him in the starting lineup right away (Bayless, Barbosa, Derozan, Amir, Davis)

he runs none of the coach's plays on offense, he just runs the "I dribble around until I feel like shooting" play and everyone else runs around wondering what play it is

not good on a team that is already young and confused

he doesnt fit on this team and I hope he's gone when the Raps finally start playing again...
I like him, but he isnt the type of guy I want running on the floor with youngsters and developing players.
He needs to be on a playoff team that has talent, so that he can help them out with scoring... but for us, he'd just hog the ball and hurt our growth.

I think that we now have an actual coach that might change. Let's hope.

I was also repeatedly frustrated watching Barbosa play last year. On a team like this, any scoring was obviously appreciated, but I didn't see how it was doing anything to actually help the team. There was much less execution on offense and I felt like the young team had a tendency to get lost. Also, on a team where players are trying to establish themselves and get game experience, it sucks watching the ball disappear in someone's hands.

He's a solid bench player but that's it. He's probably good as gone.
