Last years Raptors, how are they doing?

Thought it would be interesting to look at how some of the players we had last year are doing. Just for the hell of it.

Jamario Moon- 4.9ppg/3.6rpg (16mpg)

AP- 8.6ppg/1.9apg/2.6rpg -52 3PT% (31mpg)

Ukic-1.1ppg/0.6apg 27 FG% (5mpg)

Marion-12.ppg/6.5rpg (32mpg)

Kapono- 5.8ppg//1.1rpg 38 3PT% (14mpg)

Humphries-6.6ppg/4.5rpg (15mpg)

Joey Graham- 3.2ppg/1.1rpg (10mpg)

Jermaine O'Neal- 14.3ppg/7.3rpg (31mpg)

Nathan Jawai- 5.3ppg/3.1rpg (13mpg)

* Anyone on that list that you miss?

'trane 11-23-2009 05:29 PM

thanks for compiling this jeff. we should update it every once in a while to see how things are going for these guys. there's not a soul on there i really miss, although you have to wonder how we'd be doing with marion instead of turkoglu, but there are so many other deals that were contingent on that one, so it's impossible to say what the team would look like now if we had kept him. much worse, i would guess, since our exceptions situation would have been totally different...

the grass isn't always greener.

Long_Road 11-23-2009 05:29 PM

I think we really should have kept Nathan, could have really used the extra big body. And we hardly got to see him play.

It's really a shame that we had to include him in the big sign and trade, as we originally had Douby (who has since been wiaved) slated to go out in that.

Jawai, I think would have gotten minutes ahead of POB, and maybe just behind Rasho - especially with Evans being out.

fancylad 11-23-2009 05:38 PM

great thread Jeff.

And yeah - i feel the same way about Jawai, i voiced my displeasure about his departure when the move was made.

Also, i really thought Kapono would be flourishing in Philly to the point of being close to double digits in points.

Didn't BC try and trade Douby with Marion/Hump and the numbers didn't work so it had to be Jawai?

Either way, getting that deal done got us Turkoglu/Wright/Belinelli and gave us the MLE. So losing Jawai is well worth it.

jeffb 11-23-2009 05:45 PM

Two things

1. Gotta feel sorry for Ukic right now. I don't think he's much of a player and again he's shooting a horrid %, but he simply isn't playing b/c of Jennings. When his contract ends he'l likely be back in Europe.

2. Wonder how Philly feels about the Kapono deal? Paying him almost 6Mil for 5ppg and shooting 38 3pt%? Evans is hurt so can't say we won the deal yet, but Kapono is a tough fit on most teams.

Gurk 11-23-2009 05:46 PM

Did you see the game where Jawai had 16 points. He is a beast. Sadly we kept Douby over him. Time to make a new thread names:

BRING BACK JAWAI :dancing:

K lets start the Turk Vs. Matrix Tale Of Tha Tape...

Shawn Marion
11 GS
PPG 12.6
RPG 6.5
APG 1.5
SPG 1.2
BPG 0.8
FG% 0.492
FT% 0.789
3P% 0.000
MPG 32.1

Hedo Turkoglu
13 GS
PPG 14.4
RPG 4.9
APG 3.8
SPG 0.7
BPG 0.5
FG% 0.438
FT% 0.833
3P% 0.414
MPG 35.1

I would have to say that at this point it's too close to call it...Although Turk gets payed like 3-4 million more per year...

Basically Turkoglu is a better shooter and can get to the rim vs Matrix who is a horrible shooter and can get to the rim. The only thing where the Matrix is better is at the defensive end imo. Turkoglu is a better playmaker, passer and shooter so i think he's a better fit for what we needed.

But let's just say this:

Turk-Belinelli-Wright>>>>>>>>>>>>> Marion-Jawai-Hump

Which is essentially the outcome of that trade. I'll take it and run.

It's slightly amusing to me that the list of scrubs at the top of this page was our team [exluding 3 players] last year.

Big difference if you ask me.

We have play makers now. On both ends of the floor.

Hehe, yeah and add to that list Hassan Adams & Quincy Douby and it makes one wonder why we ever thought we were a good team going into last season. lol

LOL it's because we all though JO could come back strong & put up 15+ppg around 10 boards, 2 Blocks & a steal which he did for a bit but It wasn't going to be enough...

Exactly. That's why my expectations are pretty high. They really need to show some better results in the next few weeks.

Nothing is too surprising, except for Kapono. Wow has he dropped off with his abilties. I guess it wasn't all about coaching.

Stonezz 11-23-2009 07:10 PM

I'm really surprised that Kapono's numbers aren't higher by a couple of points, the change of scenery hasn't helped. But I'm happy Jawai is getting some minutes and JO seems to be having a rpetty solid year.

JO??? not for 22million he ain't!!:police:

moremilk 11-23-2009 07:56 PM

there's more to this than number. Our 3 starters last season (parker, marion, JO) are still starters, and on better teams this time around. Parker and marion should have trended down just because they are old, and are on teams with more scoring firepower (except for miami). Kapono, moon and the others are really doing the same thing, but getting fewer minutes (since our team last year wasn't deep, so we had to use them more than they deserved).

Too bad you didn't include TJ (9/4 with 38% FG as a starter for Indiana ...), even though he wasn't here last season, he's still missed by some I'm sure ...

WHAT? We have 7 big men: Bosh, Bargs, Amir, Rasho, Reggie, Pops and POB, where the heck would we find time to play another big man. POB hardly sees any playing time as it is.

Parker in Cleveland- Sorry but Cleveland has shit depth, especially @ SG, and Parker would be coming off the bench if West hadn't gone and lost his mind

JO in Miami- Again, who else would start, plus he makes too much $$ to come off the bench behind someone like Haslem

Marion in Dallas- This is a given, he'd be starting for us as well. But the player we got in return is also starting for us. So that's a wash.
