Lack of motivation

Last year we had an out of shape Hedo, a “quitting” Bosh and a complete meltdown of a season. Now this year we have two players, Kleiza and Bayless, join our team full of excitement for a fresh new start. Watching the games now you see nothing but frustration and complete lack of desire, including the handful of players who were excited to be here. Personally I think it’s beyond just the lack of wins but something within the organization that makes players resent being a part of this.
I also refuse to accept the whole living outside of US is hard on players, and Toronto is not a good city to live in. That is just a bad excuse for not having more talent on this team.

losing takes its toll on morale... no excuse but its to be expected...

welcome to the board btw!

Yup from what I see from this year at least is we have a team that can compete, right now it looks like that reality has set In and some players have checked out thinking that there will probably be changes before the deadline...

Last year I didn't want the all-star weekend to stop our season & this year it can't come soon enough!

Meh. To me, Jay has done a fine job motivating the team this year. Aside from the last few, most games have been fairly tight. But as opponents prepare for the playoff stretch, I expect more blowouts. Not as a result of malaise, but rather a lack of talent and experience.

Bayless scored 10 points in 11 minutes. You best not be talkin' smack about my boy!

I think it's just the losing. Seven in a row is tough to take...and considering how little talent we have not injured..hope isn't exactly flowing freely.

When do Weems, Kleiza, Dorsey, Evans and Barbosa come back? :confused2:

But in Bizzaro world... it means full motivated operation tank.

Clearly some guys are not always trying hard enough, but this team just doesn't have enough "take-over" talent like other teams. That can't be overlooked. Even if they were lucky enough to be tied near the end of the game, the other teams always send out a slaher to either get to the rim or get fouled. We have a couple of guys learning to be that kind of player, but.......no.

Why not weems? He can play decent at times, especially when he's comming off the bench

Bankiz 01-23-2011 03:31 PM

injury gets us out of shape !

in don't think young have a motivation problem, it's more that is tuff to play a game when you can really stay more than 5minutes on the bench to rest.

yesterday you 11 players who can play for miami, and toronto only 7. that does ot make a great bench, so it's tuff.

and now (without peja) we are the 4th youngest team in the league. no excuse, but that means a lot, especially when you have so much injury to deal with.

the biggest problem is scouting report about player who gets.
but weems is a surprise injury (back is tuff i know that)
evans, not a surprise, but what a shit that happend in the beginning of the season.

and barboisa... bad dicesion by the organisation. he shouldhae his surgery and rest, and take care to cme bak in a good shape.

some organisation problems seems more fair than anything else, even the coaching staff.

jay have done so far a good job with what he have.
i was pissed about charlotte 1st game, but yeh we can do better.
i think 3years with his record it's enough.

What are you talking about?

He's out with a ankle injury that he DOESNT need surgery for...

It's his wrist that he needs surgery on probably in the offseason and well... if you have watched any raps games this season, he's playing freakin fine with it...

honnestly he take time to be fine with it. so what i said is that if he gone surgery before training camp, he will come back right now, and will be in better shape and not have his entire body injure.
he is not a young player anymore, he need time to heal, and he would have been better if he has take time to be in better situation, than being part of the injury day-to-day list.

the problem is when you have (evans, weems really out) and then manyother on day-to-day decision, so you have no 5on5 practice during the seaon, that is tuff no matter who is your head coach.

how make in place a system, when you have only 5 or 6 player who can do practice.

so it's not a motivation problem but an organisatin problem (not the franchise organisation) but the player managment wich is not good enough.

all our players can play decent at times, we don't need any more of these guys that are inconsistent, you can't have most of the guys on the court being inconsistent and not know what they'll do, he's only good like 1 out of 10 games and even then he's just slightly above average

only time i want to see him come off the bench is in garbage time, he's such a detriment to demar's game

Raptor-Colts 01-23-2011 08:18 PM

It's a lot of the loosing thats why. look at CLE, do you think any one wants to be on that team right now. Same thing with T.O and the raps. When you lose you don't have fun. The whole living out of the states thing is fucking bull shit any way, Canada is so much better. I mean would you rather play in Detroit??? The only thing i can think of is the snow (which is very silly but you never know nba players..)
