Default Kyle Lowry - Possible Destinations

Trying to determine what NBA teams might try to make a play for Lowry this summer.

I'm not sure of the best site for viewing updated cap space by team but have been using this: 2014-2015 NBA Cap Tracker

So my question is - Who has money and needs a PG? Safe to say that Lowry gets at least 10 per year or more.

Teams with cap space who could justify throwing big money at a starting PG:

1. LAL - 26 million in cap space.
2. Mil - 15 million in cap space.
3. Orl - 18 million in cap space.
4. Phi - 30 million in cap space.
5. Uta - 31 million in cap space
6. Dal - 31 million in cap space.

Are there any other teams who should be added to this list or taken off because you don't think they will go after lowry?

I remember some discussion about it but couldn't find it.

I hope we get him signed. Hoping that by eliminating some teams from contention I can make myself feel a little better about it...

Seems like a good time to re-visit the question.

1. LAL - 26 million in cap space. - yes they need KL caliber PG
2. Mil - 15 million in cap space. - they have Brandon Knight
3. Orl - 18 million in cap space. - I don't think they are ready to spend, I might be wrong
4. Phi - 30 million in cap space. - MCW they would like to develop that
5. Uta - 31 million in cap space - they have Burke and Burks they might want to develop that
6. Dal - 31 million in cap space - they have Jose makes no sense for them to run after KL

So I think I will only be Lakers question is would KL like to go to LAL

Lakers, Bucks, Magic. Those are the threats in my mind. Lakers could blow a bunch of money on an offer, but I think they want to make a run at someone bigger and won't risk killing their cap. Bucks might try Knight at the 2, so they could pitch to Lowry. But they are such a mess - would you want to leave here for there? I wouldn't. But they could impact the market, that's for sure. Orlando is the big problem. Their GM seems to be taking it slow, but if they decide they want to make the leap now, then Lowry is a great way for them to kickstart that group.

Fair enough. For what this team can offer though - money, complete leadership of the team, boarderline contenders and a whole country that adores him - what other team can offer anything better?

KL has his pay check, the only reason he would leave is if he didn't want to play here anymore imo.

Well, it depends... If the Raps are offering a considerable but reasonable contract around 12M per year, and the Lakers decide to pony up 15-16M per year, is that decision easy? Does Masai pony up the same amount to keep him? It's not clear cut.

I believe he'll be back, but it's not a sure thing.

Yeah I can see that but right now we're guessing on the character of Lowry - if it's all about the money and just money then Lakers - not just pay but endorsements BUT he will be secondary to Kobe on a rebuilding team; there is a trade off. He'll get his millions anywhere and will be set for life anywhere but the Raps can and have given him more than anyone else has - trust and adoration.

Kyle said yesterday that the situation would be important and winning was a big part of the equation. He won't move for dollars alone. Teams can clear cap space if they want to, so I think the main threats will be Indy and HOU and NYK.

Lakers Free-Agency Rumors: Rudy Gay Heading To L.A, Pau Gasol Linked To Memphis Grizzlies, Carmelo Anthony Remains First Option - International Business Times

According to Digital Journal writer Larry Seely, the Lakers will likely try first to salvage an A-list free-agent like Anthony or LeBron James before shifting their focus on a non All-Star but efficient player like Gay

I've been fearing all season that K_Low has been using this situation as a launch pad to his "new" career.

He always looked to me as an opportunist. All the right words are all part of the package...not how he really feels.

I truly hope he proves me wrong.

My $$$ is he goes to the Knicks like all ego knuckleheads that get fooled by the bright lights. And he can be a chucker again and fit right in!:cookie:

The Knicks don't have the cap space or trade pieces to acquire Lowry. They're pretty much limited to re-signing Anthony and trying to deal some of the dead weight for lesser dead weight.

My guess that he will go elsewhere but I hope I am wrong though.

All of them shitty teams that missed the playoffs and will very likely continue to do so for the next couple few years. Except Dallas. And there is no problem going to Dallas ... except age and Calderon.

We got this over these.

Better site? Phoenix, Bobcats, Wiz and Detroit seem to have space. Phoenix is interesting, but who ndo they have... Bledsoe? Bobcats? No. The wiz are interesting. But it seems there are of similar talent and who the hell would want to live in DC.

Phoenix has Goran Dragic. Bobcats have Kemba Walker and Wiz have John Wall.

Nope, not me at least. I'm far more worried about Amir's ankles.
