Kyle Lowry will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, but he implied after Sunday's Game 7 loss that he'll re-sign with the Raptors.
"I’ve had the best core of teammates I've ever had in my life and my career," said Lowry. "This is only the start for us and the Raptors organization." Lowry was the subject of trade speculation for much of the 2013-14 season and he'll draw plenty of interest as one of the summer's premier free agents, but it sounds like Toronto has the inside track to retain him after his career-best season with averages of 17.9 points, 2.4 threes, 4.7 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.5 steals.

Raptors GM Masai Ujiri said re-signing Kyle Lowry is a priority for the team.
Lowry is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but Ujiri is committed to keeping the point guard in Toronto after a season in which he averaged 17.9 points, 2.4 threes, 4.7 boards, 7.4 dimes, and 1.5 steals. "It's very important," Masai said of re-signing Lowry. "Negotiating is easy for me if we want Kyle here and Kyle wants to be here. We're optimistic and stuff will happen." Lowry will undoubtedly receive offers this summer after taking a big step in his grown this season, but it's sounding like the Raptors will make every effort to prevent him from leaving.

well if it comes down to it, DAL and LAL have extreme deep pockets, i hope he stays, but it's hard to turn down a mega contract

for the record i think signing him is almost a must, but with his knees i'd be weary of a long deal....but again we might have to offer one just to compete

dallas has something like 10 point guards under contract, doubt they want to add another one. Would be fun to see lowry competing with Calderon for minutes again though

I don't see orlando attracting lowry much, as they are behind us in the development curve. Only the lakers are a serious alternate, and they could be dangerous.

There will be no mega contract. I see Ty Lawson as the ceiling - 4/48

The knees are a worry. I'd hate to see him become Alvin 2.0. But i think there's a good chance he's fine. He is built pretty tough.

And i don't know if the Lakers are a big worry. First off, Philadelphians dislike Kobe notoriously. I'd think there's a good chance he has shared in that. Secondly, i don't know if Lowry qualifies as an acquisition that makes Kobe satisfied. How much do they really want to pay for their backcourt? They really need to fill other positions and/or score a huge name. And third - it's an unsettled situation. I don't know if Lowry has much interest in walking into anything unsettled after finally getting himself secured in a perfect role.

While Lowry's knees may cause some worry for some, I'm not worried. If we can re-sign Vasquez and possibly even De Colo, we have 2 solid PG's behind Lowry that can play a nice amount of minutes if he needs to rest the knees.

Orlando is the biggest threat but even then that's only in the event that they don't draft Smart or Exum, and they have a shot at drafting one of them with their current pick. They'll be really fun to watch next season.

thankfully lowry isnt a foot taller, bigs get stupid huge contracts, this is good, lowry is pretty much a lawson

lowry might look a little better, but compared to the west, the east has no points

I think Lowry is a better fit in OKC with Durant than Westbrook Also,he's an upgrade over Hill with the Pacers. Both would have to be some sort of sign and trade to get him but as far as the team's with Cap room,Lowry in Toronto>>>>>>>>

If it's between us and Orlando offering the same dollars, there's no way he goes there. They really don't have a whole lot of developing players, and I think they're trying to teach Oladipo to run point. Their frontcourt is a disaster aside from Vucevic and it'll take them two years to get even to where we are. Afflalo is likely trade bait, too.

The Lakers are a possibility, but they're going to have to fill 9-10 roster spots with $30m. Kobe's ridiculous extension hamstrung them from really being a free agent destination, and Lowry would be starting from scratch again with a team of likely near-minimum players and a broken-down Bryant.

We make the most sense both from a dollars perspective and a team-building/winning perspective.

Why do I feel concern about him leaving? Should I be concerned? Can we find someone else to replace this dude?

There are no All-Star type point guards on the free agent market this summer other than Lowry. Could be a bit nervous, but ultimately I think management will do everything possible to bring back Lowry. I think Lowry will re-sign in the ball park of 4yr 45-50 mil.

I'm pretty sure he wants to win, and he ain't doing that in Orlando, Milwaukee, LA, Utah, Philly.

The cap/tax wasn't made for teams like the Lakers to worry about. They can spend $100mil like the Nets and not care.

The tax is for teams like the Raps so they don't buy any good players and take them out of major markets.

I'd love to see a hard cap.
