Default Koreen: Triano on DeMar Starting

Hmm ... looks like DeMar's getting the starting nod when the season starts at SG.

I think it's a mistake to simply annoint the kid to a starting position. He should have to come in and earn it in camp.
"You can't let a #9 pick rot on the bench"?
If he's not ready for prime time then yeah, you do.

Maybe he'll come in and blow everyone away. I certainly hope so, but let's remember that he's only 20. Anything he can contribute should be viewed as a bonus.

This is obvious.

Wright is gonna back up Turk, Belli is gonna be a scorer of the bench.

Demar is going to be the midrange guy for the starting lineup.

Douby will hardly play as will Weems.

He's not going to get better sipping gatoraide on the sidelines. He needs to be in there... I just feel not as a starter.

I agree with Triano, he's not going to get a shit load of minutes unless he dominates. He's likely going to get 16-20MPG, and they'll be very good minutes with our best players. Which gets him unbelievable experience and helps him gain confidence. Unless he comes into training camp and disapoints dramatically, he'll be starting.

Jose/Jack
DD/Beli
Turk/Wright
Bosh/Amir
Bargs/Rasho

Very solid.

I say start Wright for the first 10 games, then start Derozen. Starting right off the bat for Derozen will but too much pressure on Derozen. It's better to gradually get him involved.

Wright wont start unless there is an injury.

Demar is going to be used pretty exclusively as a sg, not a small forward, and Douby and Belli are sgs as well.

If wright plays any sg at all that would leave only Turk and Weems at the sf spot.

Therefore logic dictats that Wright WILL NOT be playing the starting sg position.

So would I, but it would depend on the opponent.
Give him starts against teams that are weak at the 2, and let him wear the starter out.
I think it will be fun to see the team after the first month of the season.

Derozan and Belinelli are two guards through and through. If Wright starts on the regular who's going to be there to backup Turk? Sonny Weems? I don't think so.

The majority of the time I expect to see Wright off the bench behind Turk, with a couple starts here and there for special defensive assignments a la Kobe, Wade, etc.

I like that Demar's getting the nod, throw him into the fire early, see what he's got. Better to give him a test run with the possibility of a failure than have him buried on the bench and maybe not using him to his full potential.
