Koreen: The Raptors’ 2010-11 report card

Quote:

B

DeMar DeRozan

GP 78 l PPG 17.1 l RPG 3.9 l FG% 47.2 DeRozan got stronger as the season carried on. In 22 games since the all-star break, he has averaged 19.9 points per game on nearly 48% shooting. He is also the only Raptor to play in every game this season. He still needs to improve his defence, handling and three-point shot.

Part of the future? Definitely. He should be the Raptors' starting shooting guard as long as he wants to be here.

B-

Reggie Evans

GP 28 l PPG 4.3 l RPG 11.2 l FG% 41.6 When he was on the floor, Evans' rebounding genius was the most reliable thing for the Raptors. Of course, a foot injury means he will barely surpass the 28 games he played last year.

Part of the future? Unlikely. The Raptors could bring him back to serve as the veteran conscience of a young team. But with Amir Johnson and Ed Davis under contract, they need more of a legitimate centre.

B-

Amir Johnson

GP 72 l PPG 9.6 l RPG 6.4; l FG% 56.8 Johnson was the team's warrior. With back and ankle injuries, he had no business playing 70plus games, and that showed up in his post-all-star averages of 7.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He brought down his atrocious foul rate, and most importantly, he showed up.

Part of the future? Probably. He has four years left on his contract, but Davis's presence makes you wonder if there is not too much duplication at power forward.

From a different article:

BRYAN COLANGELO

Since last season ended, Colangelo has been on a nice little streak. He drafted Ed Davis, unloaded Hedo Turkoglu and turned Jarrett Jack into Jerryd Bayless. Of course, that does not change some of the questionable moves that preceded those, or the signing of Linas Kleiza. Part of the future? Probably. It is hard to believe MLSE will have the resolve to get rid of somebody with Colangelo's experience and résumé, even if the last few years have been bleak.

C

JAY TRIANO

A few of his young players, Davis and DeRozan, showed growth through the season. The team, for the most part, played hard. There were signature wins. Alas, the team was once more abhorrent on the defensive end, and the Raptors are going to wind up with about as many wins as everybody predicted.

Part of the future? Probably. Triano deserves another shot with a team that has a realistic shot at winning.

Bayless shouldn't get a C+. Since hes been starting he should get an A.

Part of the future? Probably? :confused2:

I wonder is Linas will be part of our future, I mean JJ is younger and looks better. Maybe Kleiza will come off the bench for him or the other way around

it says he will be a part of the future since his CONTRACT dictates so. so i dont think its saying we want him here. i do think that we can trade him by the trade dealine next year though and it will be a certain must if we draft a sf

How does nobody on this team get an F.

Aamir 04-09-2011 04:08 PM

How can no one on this team get an A?

I think DeMar, Ed, and/or Amir deserve it.

Just realized DeMar's stats from the all-star break are outstanding. I didn't expect him to make this much a jump to be honest. It's not even like he gets a ton of shots and chucks like Bargs to get his points.

Why Bargnani got a C? Well he doesn't play D :P

I agree, for an undersized big he's always ready to play whether when he's coming off the bench or when we're losing by 30 pts

I think an A would be for an all star season. Demar is getting closer. Scrap the 1st couple of months when he was trying to put together what he learned in the summer and he is what?....20/4/2 for a guy who doesn't shoot 3's well yet?
Ed and Amir have shown well but did not do enough to get an A.

But all these guys have bright futures.
