Love the snide comment, and love the "lol" at the beginning of the post. What are you? 16?

Anyways, He's avergaing close to 30 minutes of play a night and getting 12ppg, but he's shooting 43% on the year. If you extrapolate those numbers down to 20-23 minutes a night, he'd be averaging the same numbers in Toronto last season and we chose not to re-sign him, but that Russian basketball team deemed him to be worth 4 million. With Delfino, you know what you're gonna get - a "subpar to par" shooter, good handles, good rebounder for his size. Is he worth 4 million a season. Debatable. I don't think he is, but that's just me.

I apologize for the abbreviation of laughing out loud. I didn't mean to undermine your maturity. I didn't say anything about us paying him 4 million. I don't think he's worth that much. I just don't think you can judge a player in Europe solely by their numbers... Look at Brandon Jennings or Josh Childress. Jennings could easily light up teams for 30 but he plays into the teams system. Childress was a solid player in the league but doesn't stand out on a European team. I'm just saying that judging him based on what he does in Russia this season isn't reasonable. Judging him on what he's done in Toronto is much more realistic, so I understand what your saying and once again, I agree that he's not worth 4 million.

He does nothing special to warrant 4 million/yr.

Think about our contracts right now:

Kapono - 6
Banks - 4
Delfino - 4?

That's 14 million tied in guys who are mediocre to below mediocre. Way to handicap us already! He's a nice player, rebounds well for a guard, but, he doesn't do anything offensively, is more of a chucker than a slasher and doesn't solve any of our glaring problems. I'll pass.

Add to that 3.4-4Mil for Joey, and probably 3-4Mil for AP and we're looking at over 20Mil for the same back court as this season with the exception of Delfino.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

They will sign him to a deal and then we would get 7 days to match that offer

Who really cares guys?
Delfino's just another chucker who probably wont ever be a solid starter in the NBA
The reason I say this is because we need to invest our money on someone who will make a huge difference
not someone who will throw up 3's and grab a few boards off the bench..
I have nothing against Delfino, but its the truth!

there's something vague to me.. he's asking 4-mill.+ right? is it a multi-year or annually? if it's per year then let NY have him. I believe we could get FAs that are more worth his asking price.

another thing i don't understand is why is everyone so hyped up about the Knicks in 2010. Lebron, Bosh...does the Knicks really have $500 million reserved paycheques to sign all-star players to multi-year contracts?

this is bs, there's no way they commit 4/yr for this summer and the next. They already are having huge issues, because they can't sign both lee and robinson this summer and still have cap space in 2010 to go for lebron. Which gives me an idea: Bosh for robinson, lee and chandler

Doug Smith weighs in on his blog -

Quote:
There was apparently some whacked out report yesterday about the Knicks making Carlos Delfino some $4 million offer?

Um, here’s the truth:

The Knicks don’t have their mid-level salary exception left and could only offer a pro-rated veteran’s minimum.

Carlos is just getting over a shoulder injury and is still under contract to Khimki.

Why in the world he’d want to sign with a team now – one that’s life and death to sneak into the playoffs – instead of waiting until the summer to find out if he can get a better offer from a better team is beyond me.

I really wish people would do at least a modicum of research before they publish, you know, poop and send people scurrying breathlessly to their keyboards to e-mail me about it.

He's doing fine. He has a star status and he's playing for 12ppg 4rebs 4ass in about 25minutes. I watched a lot of Khimki games and he made some nice plays. He became a better player having a role set (he's not inconsistent like Sam Mitchel almost made him) and he showed a nice mid-range game he didn't use in Toronto. Right now he is sidelined with a shoulder injury but he'll be back in at least 2 weeks (to play Eurocup final 8)

He's far better than the aging AP, Kapono and Graham. Kapono makes no Defense, is too slow and does nothing else than shoot the ball. Graham is the kind of player that will always be the nice one off the bench, that can dunk and show athleticism, but he doesn't have talent.

Delfino is gifted as hell. I can say he has more talent if compared to Ginobili (he doesn't have such explosion like Manu). He's athletic, strong, tall, and proved himself as a good defender and a truly scorer in these Olympic games. Look what he did against Greece!

http://www.bckhimki.ru/files/gallery...lfinooly08.wmv

Plz everyone watch this vid. And please don't say he's inconsistent (he has never been). He just needs to know his place on rotation and keep in mind what he has to do.
PS - Look at his stats during Olympics

Why would the Knicks do this... they already have their hands tied with Nate and Lee coming off this summer and they want NOTHING to do with post 2010 contract

Sure

Knicks denied the Rumor. They said it was speculation and they wouldn't spend their Mobley exception. NYK is a wingers-loaded team - Gallinari, Hughes, Chandler, Nate Robinson, Quentin Richardson...

They don't need Carlos
