Josh wants Masai back.

Masai wants to be back.

But here comes a R.A. Dickey-like knuckleball.

The Toronto Raptors have targeted Masai Ujiri as their top candidate for general manager, this reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. Ujiri was an assistant general manager in Toronto before joining Denver in the summer of 2010.

Ujiri is the reigning executive of the year in the NBA. And his contract is up. Nuggets president Josh Kroenke had told me and nuggets.com a couple weeks ago, “For the fans, they should know that Masai wants to be here, and I think he enjoys working for me. And I think we make a pretty good team, along with Pete (D’Alessandro, the vice president of basketball operations) … and the rest of our scouting staff. So I wouldn’t anticipate any issues there.”

At his press conference when he won the award, Ujiri said he is “very positive” he’ll sign a new contract with Denver.

This also happened last summer, when the 76ers made a push for Masai

If he wants to go back so bad, and they want him to re-sign so bad, then why has a deal not been reached?

Something is happening internally that they dont want anyone to know and its hard to say whether or not the Raptors are the reason why he has not signed a deal yet.

Also, the fact that he won GM of the year, and the fact that the team is as good as it is; maybe its a good time for him to leave now while the team is at such a high. He built a winner, and now its time to move to another team that has room to improve. Its hard to believe that the success of this team will continue at this high level for multiple years to come, and after a down season or two, people will be calling for his head the same way Raps fans were after BC's GMOTY award....It might make sence for him to leave.....think about it.

Imagine, he builds a winner in Denver, then comes to Toronto and Builds another winner (when the team is making a major image/personal change from ownership down which is a great time to come into an organization that has been preconceived as undesirable/poor in the past). If he builds a winner here, this guy will be like a TOP 3 GM in the league and viewed as an absolute basketball genius (while also getting paid like a top tier GM right now)......if he stays in Denver, its literally all downhill from here unless they win a championship next season (unlikely)

No lol. It's a easy decision if you are Uriji. You have a winning team and look good for years to come. Or the other choice is a team with no success and have hefty seemingly hard to trade contracts of bargs, and few others. Having success with Raps in the nexy few years isdoubtful compared to the success of the third seed, no superstar team, good players, god depth, and great coach Nuggets.

Doug Smith was just on the Fan and stated that as long as Denver grants us permission to talk to Ujiri that he expects he'll be our next GM by the end of the weekend.

In other words, we're fucked! This turd is always wrong and when he's over confident, even more so.

Bargs is not a "hard to trade" contract. BC was just looking to get too much in return for Bargs (or not willing to let him go), I bet that Bargs is traded before Sept comes around....

There is no way Denver is a top 3 team in the west "for years to come". They got smoked out of the first round for one. Teams that will be better then Denver with-in the next 2 years that finished the regualr season behind them this year:

L.A. Clippers
Memphis
L.A. Lakers
Dallas

How would they get worse? You think they will lose next year playoffs when they have the manimal and the spicy one?

I never said they would get worse. I said that those team would be BETTER then them....big difference. The west is extremely competitive, and many of the usual suspects didn't even make the playoffs this year......most of which are teams willing to spend big bucks to make contenders/are dealing with aging players/cores

All those teams are willing to throw money at their problems...Denver on the other hand doesn't strike me as a team willing to go deep into the Salary Cap (or into it at all), especially after a season where they finished 3ed in the west, yet had a lower attendance then the raptors.
