King Solomon Bandwagon

All Aboard!!!

From what I've seen, I like Solomon's game. He's a vet, and a pro, and seems to appreciate his role on the team.

My money's on him getting some time at 2 before the season is done. If AP went down, Solomon would definitely be in line to fill that spot.

He's not just our back up PG, he's our combo guard.

Better get on this train before it leaves the station!

Thumbs up Expect a new JYD (Junkyard dog)

I watched him in many games in Istanbul and Euroleague games. Not only that I am on this train, I expect him to become a very popular player like Jerome Williams (aka JYD). Though Solomon is not a family type person (i.e. he can urinate in a cab after an argument), I am sure he will win hearts. He is a true warrior and he will be even more beneficial during playoffs because he likes playing under pressure. Long live King Solomon!

OK. because of this, i am now on the solomon bandwagon as well. :spit:

As i mentioned in the game thread, i think it's safe to say the Will has put himself into the position of primary PG backup. He has everything you need to fulfill the role. Thankfully he's not chucking a la preseason and his court vision is rather good too.

Another good euroleague pickup for Colangelo.

The solo man 5000 will get playing time as long as he pressures the ball like he did yesterday. Ukic's potential gets me more excited though.

I would like to see him playing some 2 as well. If this team can find a real defensive specialist on the perimeter for any amount of time, it's going to make for some easy wins.

He'll only get better as his stamina improves, he was really huffin and puffin yesterday. Once that happens I could see him giving time at the 2.

I'm still reserving judgment. I mean, I feel more comfortable with him running the point than Ukic, but he's still a bit too Mike James for my liking.

Good insurance guy, anyway I still hope Roko is making his way and we won't need Solomon. I see Solomon more like a 3rd PG even though for a while he will be the backup PG till Roko is learning some NBA specific PG tricks.

P.S> Solomon reminds me of Mike James

05-06 caliber Mike James type of player off of the bench doesn't bother me in the least bit.

Hes shown great awareness off the pick and roll and his style is completely different from preseason in a good way. The guy is always looking for openings for his teammates off the pick instead of what he was doing in the preseason which was always looking for his shot. If he continues his smart, aggressive play I'm definately on the bandwagon. Its obvious he was gonna start the year as the backup until Roko adapts to the NBA game and grows up.Solomon has been solid so far.

My theory is that Smitch gave Solomon a lot of freedom to make mistakes during the preseason, along with a lot of playing time.

I think Smitch probably saw that Solomon could be our combo guard, and I think this is the role he was to be prepared for. (His new Juan Dixon... Smitch used to play that guy an unwarranted amount IMO.)

But, it also seems (so far at least) that Solomon realizes he can't be a low efficiency high turnover player, and he needs to be a little more conservative. Playing with better players on the court will also make some of the turnovers go away.

Statistically he's a very "busy" player. He makes a lot of numbers in a short amount of time. This is a good sign, especially for a situation guy coming off the bench.

I just checked his Hollinger stats on ESPN.com and so far this year exactly 50% of his possessions have ended in an assist. wOw! He's only played 38 minutes, but still...

I don't know how well this will all turn out, but I'm optimistic so far.

Just curious, how do you figure Dixon got an unwarranted amount of playing time?

He was awesome when first got here, but sucked in the playoffs becuase he was trying to play through a wrist injury on his shooting hand.

Last season he asked for a trade because he was getting very limited playing time.

I'm not a big fan.Small doses, yes.But he can't play too many minutes. If he does, then it's turnover city!!

From what I remember Dixon was kind of a chucker. I guess FG% of 42.5 and 3P% 32.5 isn't the worst. It's not great though.

...and he was getting over 26 minutes a game for a season. It probably just felt like more!
