There is a trade proposal thread. I know everyone is pumped about real action here, but i think the whole draft hype gets out of hand. This team can be improved without landing one of those super-hyped kids. Furthermore it may simply take too much wasting of assets and too much luck to land one of them. And further furthermore, we can always land one of them in the future when they are grown-ass men. If we can continue to build an improving team and manage to land some kind of a pick, and maintain good flexibility to keep moving forward then things look pretty good.

There are assets here - use them wisely before getting caught up in some desperate ploy to score undeveloped talent. This team will start making noise in two to three years in any case, and if the ship stays on a proper course that could mean very long-term stability which opens up all kinds of possibilities. That's what i see with Masai. I think the media fascination with tanking for the draft is a bit overdone. It's still one of many options, and a good gm keeps as many options open as he can at all times.

Some of you guys are just fpalm.

Why do you want to trade DeRozan or Amir? both "our" guys that love being here, and they're young. They're both great individuals and contribute in a positive mannerr both on and off the court. Keep them for the long-haul, please.

While I do agree you with you LX, I still believe in the talent in this draft.

We should DEFINITELY take advantage of the assets we have. No sense in giving shit away just to "tank". Problem is, even if we do dismantle, the East is so bad we could still end up in the playoffs.

In the end of the day, we should make whatever deals make sense for the long term health of this franchise. Lowry and Hayes getting dealt is key for this season if you ask me.

As long as we're in the top 10 for the draft, I'm more than happy.

Well they could use some help on the boards and defensive end, so it's not like Tyler wouldn't help them out. NY is a huge enigma at this point.

Maybe because as much as Demar and Amir like Toronto, I don't remember the NBA ever handing out wins based on what players love the city they play for more.

MU has said that we won't be caught in no man's land and has also said we will not be tanking. I see no reason not to believe what he does say because he doesn't say that much about the plan.
However, some things aren't making sense yet.....unless he means we will not be caught in the middle long term.

But the timeline to relevance as a franchise does not seem like it will be very long (2016?) So thinking outside the box, I was wondering if there is a young player out there on a team going nowhere that would have made it into the lottery of this coming draft. i.e. The Raps move their pick(we're still too god for a top 5) and an asset to score a know n commodity who is not 18/19 years old.....

I couldn't think of even one guy. Not even if we poach Westbrook from OKC or wall from Wash. Are they going to take us anywhere?

Seems it has to be through the draft. And if that's the case, who's got to go for us to get into the lottery again?

Speculation I know, but my best guess is we end up with a core of JV, Demar, 2 lottery picks in 2014? Then ask yourself what can be made out of a 2015 1st, two 2016 firsts in trades and a boatload of Rogers/Bell money.

Being a playoff team with a long-term ability to get better seems like pretty good relevence to me. It's not going to be about getting a major piece or pieces, but rather putting a lot of the right pieces together, which is really the case even if you look at the teams with the superstars.
