I think the name is loved, isn't the Raptors mascot considered the best in the NBA? I think the problem for the Raptors is just that the players suck/the team has been doing too well. hopefully that changes with the GM

Call me crazy, but while I understand the fact that the Toronto Huskies played the first ever BAA game, amd the BAA was a precursor to the NBA. However, the franchise lasted a grand total of ONE season.Their record was well below .500 so it isn't as though the franchise had a rich and successful history.

I say let the Raptor name be. Changing the culture in Toronto's NBA scene and making them a player in both free agency and in the standings starts at the top. Tim Lewieke seems to get it and is putting the wheels in motion. Getting the 2013 NBA Executive of the Year to jump ship and showing money won't bs a factor in the team getting what they want is a hell of a step in the right direction.

Logo wise, if the team is winning consistently, the name and logo are irrelevent. Noone ever complained about signing in Boston, who has an angry leprechaun as a logo. What's a Laker? How "cool" is a spur?

Keep the name as is, add whatever Canada elements to the logo or unis you see fit, focus on the product on court and wait for the results to roll in.

How about the Toronto Red Coats? It would be a fun little jab at the American teams.

Or, slightly more subtle, the Toronto Loyalists.
