The only thing I will say is That this organisation has been planning on going after Durant since TL/MU came and probably longer. They will throw everything at him to come here. Imo TL planning for 2yrs to go after a specific player will probably be very convincing with his presentation. Do I think there's a chance we get him, sure. Are those chances slim....absolutely imo.

I know this was already quoted million times, but it has to be here

if the organization keeps improving, and building a winning culture which inspires tough fought battles and a never give up attitude that we've seen, then it's absolutely not out of question for him to possibly sign here. It may not be as low a chance as some think either. We have an easier east to offer, a highly improving, young cast to surround him with, a fellow all star/snubbed all star to offer him in Lowry and Demar, solid role players, and some of the best chemistry in the league. Future shines bright.

Don't get your hopes up. Let's be honest we'd all be in favour of getting Durant, but so would every team in the league. Chances of him coming here are slim.

Plus, if Drake were recruiting him now, wouldn't it be tampering?

Do you guys think the fanbase is a big factor in players decisions in free agency? I mean our city is resonating since round one across the NBA. I think its a huge factor for our current UFA to come back, but how about other UFAs?

I don't understand why some find it so outlandish to believe he'll sign here.

that durant's quote taken to its logical conclusion would imply that all the veteran nba players would want to play for the bulls, because jordan was their idol growing up ...

the only appeal we could possibly have for durant is to be a team that gives him an immediate chance at a title. By the time he's a FA again, he won't be in the mood for rebuilding projects ...

1. We havent got max cap room in 2016 unless I'm mistaken and the salary cap exists.
2. There are better destinations that will likely be better than us in the near future.
3. Most people who think he will are basing it off of an assumption that Drake will be able to get home to come here because they're friends (in that case, Brandon Jennings must be packing his bags!) and/or they think Masai is a magician.
4. I don't think there has ever been a star player that signed a contract with the Raptors as an unrestricted free agent.

Again, I'm not saying I don't want him, but if we're really basing the future of the franchise on the hope that a star free agent will go where no other has gone before, then we may want to "diversify our bonds", if you will.

1. I think we will have max if we play our cards right
2. Raptors fan mentality, that doesn't mean TL/Drake can't lure star players.
3. pff Jennings can go fuck himself, no wants him anyway. And being friends with Drake should be somewhat of a bonus. but i think TL would do his magic
4. That's all in the past we need to believe in new management otherwise we should just sell the team, because Raptors are going to suck forever.

Yeah, trades are categorically different from free agency - polar opposite really, as you don't have to convince the player to sign, which is the entire issue with the whole free agency approach (and the source of this franchise's difficulties therein).

I'm not going to be the one to say never to TL helping to pull off a big signing.
Pat Reilly and the Miami Heat opened the door to sneaky dealing behind the scenes by circumventing tampering using D-Wade. I would not put it past TL to find backroom / under the table means to get access to and ultimately sign a big fish by 2016.

And in no way do I think Drake will throw only innocent parties.
Drake is an employee of the Toronto Raptors. In some ways that is ingenious. This is an organization that spent $100 million to sign players in a soccer league with a $3 million cap. And Drake was used to help recruit players, including gifts, luxury accomodations and personalized notes to at least one players' mother. Look it up.

Drake has his marching orders and knows which of the most grandiose promises he is allowed to make.....off the court and in what the team is planning on the court.

What if you can line up all of TL's and Drake's American, Canadian and international corporate connections as well as entertainment and promotion industry connections and have them at the ready as a promise to endorse the first superstar to sign here. Is that actually tampering? What else could they do that is "off the grid" that we haven't even thought of? Could it work? Maybe, and he'll definitely have their ears.

Ok I guess I'm just the pessimist again. I guess I should lighten up.

In fact, why limit ourselves to just KD? We ought to get Curry too, after all Drake does say he's "been Steph Curry with the shot boy, cookin with the sauce boy"

Clearly hes saying he and Leiweke are cooking up a plan to get Curry, right?
