Kapono, Nash, Peja And Kobe Headline 3-Point Contest

:( No Parker unfortunately. :(

Quote:

The Toronto Raptors’ Jason Kapono will defend his title in this year’s Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at New Orleans Arena as part of NBA All-Star Saturday Night.

Kapono will attempt to become the first back-to-back winner of the Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout since Peja Stojakovic won the 2002 and 2003 titles. Stojakovic will return to the competition representing the hometown New Orleans Hornets for the first time since finishing as runner-up in the 2004 competition. Stojakovic and Kapono will be joined by Western Conference starter and 10-time All-Star Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers , Daniel Gibson of the Cleveland Cavaliers , Richard Hamilton of the Detroit Pistons and two-time MVP Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns .

Wow..Kobe's a .346 or somethign 3pt shooter..that's just wrong.

Kobe? My money's on Kapono.

Kobe will be fun. It's always great when these superstars (who are not set shooters, and often shoot off the dribble - a completely different rhythm) think they're great and try to compete in these things.

My bet is Kobe will be out in the first round; he may start out hot but by the third rack he'll be feeling it in his legs since that's not his game. Then he'll think to himself 'fuck it why didn't I ask to be in the dunk contest instead?'

My money's on Kapono too since we get to see his stroke here in TO and it's amazing - he's lights out when he's open.

HOWEVER, I'm not going to count out the comeback kid - Peja. He's won this event before I think (or did he finish 2nd to Dirk?), and he is a complete rhythm shooter who can get hot at any time. This is his type of competition - standing around and shooting.

Peja also hit 10 treys in a game this year; more than anyone else this season I'm pretty sure.

I think peja is a two times champion
