Default Kapono

Anyone wanna rag on his defence now???

I always said he can play good team D, he rotates better tha AP or Moon.

I still like him off the bench though, that open look that ice3d the game, is something we may see alot of this year.

I'll be the first one to say I was wrong on him.

Guess he was just doggin' it during the pre-season. Truth be told, I think he's a stellar buy right now.

As long as Bosh and JO continue getting the attention they deserve down low Kapono's always gonna get those open looks. When he's on his game, you don't care how much of a pylon he can be on defense.

And as long as they make good decisions like last night. Not only were they both playing rather well in terms of scoring - they constantly looked for each other and the shooters!

Overall, I was impressed with the mental part of the game yesterday moreso that with anything else. The team, for a change, looked smart!

i actually liked the swagger.
there was a brief moment in the 2nd quarter when Bosh made an amazing play, then JO did something similar on the next posession... they kind of bumped each other and swaggered down the court like they owned the wachovia center... it was great!
the confidence and swagger that this team has NEVER had in the past, just shined bright last night during a few posessions, it made me smile.

the one thing that seperates the top tier teams from the rest of the league is swagger.
if we can get that, we'll be sitting pretty.

Agreed. That, a Kapono blowing on his fingers.

But seriously - there really was a lot of emotion on the court last night. Energetic high-fives, Jose screaming and yelling, chest-bumping - it's all good stuff, psychologically speaking. Now, if only they learned to tear down those boards...

LOVED IT!

oh god, i almost forgot about the rebounding issue.
we won the game, so the rebounding prob got pushed to the back burner...
but wow, we've got problems.
wasnt it like 55-22 or something?
that screams disaster.

It was 56-33

lets not forget that AI wasn't even in the game. Looks like him and Brand had no chemistry.

It was either Brand and Miller, or AI and Miller, they didn't have a trio.

JK knows how to move his foot, which isn't something amazing, everyone SHOULD know how to do this.

But having two big mobile men underneath the basket helps everyone, as stated before.

Well, all I meant by that simple staement was that for ALL of this, it's nothing that need be overstated. Game one.

Kapono will have good games and bad games. If he get's wide open looks consistantly this year, then look the f%^$% out because guys like him who think they will get the ball, are waiting to get the ball, they are automatic. confidence will be the make or break, and that confidence will come from consistancy.

Hey man, I hope JK, and the rest of the team can gel quickly and make it happen. And I REALLY hope nobody gets hurt significantly.

Anybody wanna rag on Sam now? I seem to remember him being blamed extensively for Kapono not getting enough shots. That was a little simplistic no? I'd say it was more about Kapono becoming fully integrated within the system, and having a healthy Bosh, and a JO and a team defense that shuts down transition and the paint in general really helps with that. I really hated the idea of calling plays to specifically get JK the shots he needs. Sam was not a bad coach for refusing to do so. JK needs to get shots as part of an offense that takes advantage of all available options. Now that the team has filled out with solid roles, those options that include Kapono will multiply.

The best one was when JO was screaming after the left handed dunk. Now that was awesome

Dunno LX, think that his shooting ability is worth of one or two screens to get him free off his defender.

Sure if Kapono was a guy that used screens. He's crafty with the ball, but moving well without the ball is not exactly his game.
