the thing is, it's very rare for Bargnani to be abused one on one, even in years where his overall defense was at its worst. So I would take last night's game with a grain of salt, either Bargnani was gassed because of the flu, or, more likely, the way they tried to defend west was wrong. He did most of the damage at the rim in the 4th, because both amir and Bargnani crowded west fearing (presumably) his jumper. So naturally, west just kept spinning around them and nobody was prepared to step in, despite them doing it over and over again.

I doubt we'll see this happen again anytime soon imo.

Denver has Galo and wouldn't need Barg at all.

Let Barg alone and find someone else for trades.

Amir for Ariza!!

Gallo is a SF

Denver would look like: Lawson/Iggy/Gallo/Bargs/McGee w/ Faried running the bench

That's imo a better team for them as chandler was not really needed with both Gallinari and Iggy.

Send that to BC jeff

Maybe tonight wasn't the best scenario for him, hibbert is too big for JV right now. He has great potential, but doesn't bring much right now.
I can't believe we watched the same game! You will be riding JV's jock within a couple of months, guaranteed!

How can you be so negative about Val, he played a pretty awesome game for his first NBA game - even got a double double in 23 minutes! He's currently #10 in rebounds per 48 mins in the NBA; watching Val's game I can comfortably say that I can predict he'll finish in the top 15-20 rebounds per 48 this season. He had 1 credited block and challenged a load more shots. I was extremely impressed with his first game - especially hearing how nervous he was.

I wasn't so sure Val could score in the NBA, but now I'm pretty convinced that he will be a double double guy. The guy has hands like a hoover vacuum cleaner. To even suggest we're better off with Amir at center, who plays hard but just gets outclassed -- he's too short! -- is laughable.

If you want to complain about rookies and new Raptors - Terence Ross looked lost out there and Landry Fields was awful.

Opening night Lowry was awesome, Valanciunas was excellent, Bargs was pretty good - he played his game and got to the line and Jose was pretty good. Nobody else was particularly impressive.

Strong, short guys are always a problem for Bargs, though. Bargs always gets pushed around and doesn't play them properly (gives them too much or too little space, lets them drive on him, etc). Guys like Millsap absolutely carve him up. Bargs has a better time, IMO, against taller skilled guys like Gasol who will get their points against Bargs but won't have their way with him because they're not used to being guarded by 7 footers as much.

One game does not make a season. If you think hes a star you're out of your damn mind. And I've always enjoyed watching West play, but hes not a star anymore. Even with NOH he wasnt a star, just a step below.

Not disagreeing with you, JV played great for a rookie, but that's not the issue. Is he better than Amir RIGHT now? If not, than Amir should start RIGHT now. And against big centers, we should start gray. JV needs minutes to develop, but does he need to get them against starters? Those are the real questions.

He's at most an inch shorter than JV. And he never played for Portland.

I dont think its going out on that big of a limb to say Val is a better player than both Amir and Gray at this point, and more importantly has a bigger impact on the game and winning than they do. Even with him having trouble in the 1st half of the game vs Hibbert(he played him much better in the 2nd half, and I think our defensive strategy of 1 on 1 coverage vs Hibbert without a hedge was stupid anyway) he still had a good impact on the game and was effective while he was in there especially with help defence and on the boards.

Jonas initially had problems sort of fronting Hibbert from the side and trying to slide back into position in time. It didn't work at all, but I was intrigued at the possibilities of what this guy might be able to do, especially if incorporated with a little bit of help here and there. He is not going to be easy for anybody to play against.
