Exclamation Just talked to Chuck...

I live just across the street from Rogers building and as I was coming back home today around 4:15PM I bumped into Chuck Swirsky... I guess he was leaving the building after his show...

We talked for about 5 minutes and I raised the question of Raps playing like shit and Bosh being soft and not going inside... his response was that they are missing TJ and that Jose needs help on the point... also he defended Bosh saying that he gets 'killed' inside and probably that's why he is hesitant to drive... also I asked him about TJ's heath and he just said that nobody is saying anything to them and that they are kept in dark about it...

At the end being positive as he always is he said that Raps are what they are right now 500 team but he is sure they will improve and not to throw Bargnani under the bus because he is young and he will get better...

There you... from the Man himself...

Nice .... did he offer you and salami and cheese Ivan?

Anyhow, deep down we all know Chuck wanted to rip the Raptors for underachieving, but because he's the face of their commentating team he has to be optimistic and positive.

He, he, he... I have no cheese but Salami... well if he was one of Jessica Alba/Biel then we can talk...

Yeah... I am sure he gets pissed sometimes but being 'voice of the Raptors' he has to stay on the company line all the time...

If the rapts were winning there would be no mention of TJ Ford. What else has changed from from last year...oh yeah Garbo is out with his leg injury, maybe we miss garbo more then TJ.[b]When Chuck mentions TJ in the above post he refers that we don't have anyone that can come off the bench for Jose to give him some rest. We all know by now that when TJ was our top scorer we usually lost. The team has to move on you can't wait for TJ who knows what to expect when he returns. Jose has been our best player since his injury. Talk about being consistant then you are talking about Jose.THE MORE THIS GUY PLAYS THAT BETTER HE JUST GETS. When TJ comes back he will return and come off the bench, this team needs someone to come off the bench and score. That will be TJ 's role when and if he comes back. After getting to watch both of these guys start it's hand down that Jose is the better point guard.

raptor123, dude, you kill me. Somehow, you always manage to turn your comments into attacks on TJ. I was just thinking of starting a thread just for you where I would throw out random comments about anything in life and see how you could tie it to your love for Jose and hate for TJ. Like, I would say, "The price of cauliflower is high these days." and then you could work on linking it back to how much you hate TJ...lol.

Anyway, Krazy Ivan, that was pretty cool meeting Chuck. Too bad he has to fall in line. What would be great is to run into Coach coming out of a pub. Then you'd get the real deal!

Yeah, so what, Bosh gets killed inside. So you get a couple of slaps and you just shut down what should be the most important part of your game? Um, isn't that called being soft? I absolutely hate to do this (especially with a Leafs reference since I hate them...and even moreso because I hate this player), but in the NHL, Darcy Tucker gets killed every game going into the corners, but he keeps doing it, because that's part of his game. Allen Iverson attacks the rim and in my opinion doesn't get nearly the amount of calls that he should, he gets killed every game, but I'll be damned if I don't see him heading down that lane every game. Just because there's no official contact in the NBA, doesn't mean that it isn't a tough game. Get tough, get the right mindset and attack. I mean, COME ON.

Oh yeah, should have also told Chuck to stop saying, "_____ just ate some serious rim." That HAS to stop.

Well nothing personal here, I don't hate TJ as a person I just don't like the way he plays the game at the point guard position. He just reminds me of a squirel thats quick and plays out of control.I just get sick and tired hearing if TJ was playing we would be doing better. Mind you majority of people prefer Jose over TJ. I see when I mention Jose it drives you crazy I just chuckle about it. No hard feelings man. The point guard position is not hurting us actually its our strength right now. Like I stated before the coach must take some blame here. He now is trying to use the press (paper) to get Bargs going. What the hell is that, maybe the press should be ripping the coach, looks like Bosh started but then back tracked in his interview. I love the passion that mitch has but that does not win games, he does not have the brains to take this team to the next level end of story.

No, it doesn't get me going, I just find it funny. It's the most serious man crush I've ever seen . The Raptors work either way from PG, it's not even a consideration when talking about what is wrong with this team. But what you have to realize is that when people are saying the team would be doing better with TJ here, it is because after Jose, there's nobody to run the point. I'm not in agreement with Chuck and Leo when they say that Juan has been doing a good job running things when Jose is on the bench, I think he has been pressing, forcing shots and trying to make passes that are a little too fine. Anyway, that is why people are saying that the Raptors need TJ back. It's that one-two punch, because that is hard to answer, having two different speeds at PG coming at you the whole game.

I'm not too sure about your theory on Sam using the press to get Bargs going. I think more or less, Sam has just been stating facts when it comes to Bargnani. There's nothing left to tell the guy, he has to realize that he has to bring more than one facet to any game and he is going to have to get some serious coaching in the offseason on D and rebounding. Good D turns into good offense, especially when you can run the court. I don't think Bargnani is paying attention to the media, but I have the feeling he is sensitive, so he may take some things too personally. Just my opinion, I have absolutely nothing to back that up.

Also, let's not talk about Sam's brains. I have no doubt that Sam is a smart guy, but when it comes to making tactical decisions, I don't think he is on par with some of the top coaches in the league. You're right, Sam may be able to get guys motivated, but if it's crunch time and the Raptors need a play drawn up, I'm not at all confident.

I'm with Chuck... we miss TJ. Jose's a great point guard but he's not what we need as a starting guard. We really miss TJ's drive and kicks and instant offense when things get a bit stale(like Cleveland 4th quarter). This team is better than 500 when it has it's 2nd best player in the lineup... for now we float along. Things could be worse.

I agree with SWAN that we could use TJ right now....definately!!....but i think people fail to remember that we were a .500 team with TJ here and Jose coming off the bench. I think it's obvious that Jose is the true starting point guard that this team needs. He's played exceptional and i believe is averaging almost a double double as a starter(what more could you ask for?). I think TJ would fit perfectly as the aggressive back up coming off the bench.

I think its almost insane for someone (SWAN) to say that Jose is not what we need in a starting point guard!! ... Have you been watching the raptor games lately? Is Jose the one to blame??

Do you have a problem with little to no turnovers in a game?

I love Jose as a raptor.

He is definately one of my favorite players.

I really like him as a starter too, but i think the thing that TJ has and Jose doesn't have is a killer instinct. TJ was arguably our mentally fiercest player who never let up and I think that's the one thing that's missing the most from this team right now. It's something that TJ had tons of nothing that can't be measured by stats or lack of turnovers or whatever.

You remember playoff games last year? TJ was hot, but was he wasn't loose. No high fives. no cockiness. just focus.

It's what we're missing the most right now.

Your right on with this one. Thats what Jose gots to learn to do now. This is how i see it. Jose is our starter, him and Bosh are your 2 best players and leaders right now. Jose should be taken a stronger leadership role, this guy plays with alot of passion, just watching his play generates energy. However what Jose must do is get alittle of TJ cockiness and take more control. He has established that he can play with the best point guards in the league, his numbers are right in the top 3 in many categories. He is your best shooter on the team right now and your best passer. He can drive and he can sink his foul shots. What Jose needs is a kick in the ass , mitch must tell him that stop being a nice guy all the time , its time to take control when when our offence sputters. Hell TJ always wanted to take control , however the differance here is that Jose has a better read and smarts to do it. Steve Nash is my favourite player and I see a young nash in the works with Jose. All Jose needs is a kick in the ass and some mitch bull shit that others won't get pissed if he takes alittle more control of the situation.
