An explanation would be nice.
Haha just kidding.
Goodbye Mr. Wright.

I kind of understand his perspective. If your specialty is defense, how are you being used effectively if you're put in at the end of a blowout? From his perspective, he sees a team losing because the players aren't doing the one skill that he brings.

With that said, it's a dumb move. He's supposed to be a professional and a player like him needs to bring it every chance he gets if he wants any future at all in this league.

The Raptors only have 3 2 way players JJ AJ & ED.

Wright should have gone in the game if only to make his coach remember that he exists!

That being said I see AJ getting traded sometime this summer if AB or Jose aren't traded.

was unprofessional but i don't blame him. he was clearly an asset on the court when he got PT,as he was about the only person that wanted to play defense (besides reggie), then sonny comes back and wright gets 0 minutes?
i'm sorry but sonny is not a good enough overall player for triano to remove minutes from one of his best defenders.
i blame this on triano.

Why would he bust his ass for nothing and risk injury for a lost cause? At games like last night, no point of working hard. It's all futile now.

That's actually true, he's collecting paychecks to play when called upon. He's basically saying I'm not gunna do my job!

so other players should risk injury but not wright? what puts him on a different pedestal than everyone else? and no point in working hard? what about a multi-million dollar salary?

You are defensive specialist, not garbage player. When you see coach dig the team in the hole for half a game, request to put in defesive specialist in AFTER that is insulting.

This was sign that one of Wright and Triano must go this offseason.
I know I want to keep Wright, hes a good player

Preface this by saying we still don't know what went on...

Either you are a starter or you are a bench player. It is no different on any other team. If you don't see yourself as a bench player, that's your problem. If they are up by 20 and it's garbage time, you go in happily but if they are down by 40 you pout?
It is standard, especially in a game that has gotten away from your team to make the change, more so when they are to play back to back games. If you are so great you should want to show what you can do at that moment. when else?

yeah Wright should def be getting minutes over Weems, still quite unprofessional and immature of him at the same time, maybe there was a justified reason for it however

Julian Wright is a scrub......his ass should be cut........not entering a game because he doesn't want to is a complete joke.....doesnt matter about the score......he is paid to do a job and refused ...........99% of the world would lose there jobs for failing to work......Wright should be no different.Maybe instead of pouting he should work on his hideous jumpshot or try and work on some offensive moves other than the spinorama missed lay up.

Based on the last 3 pages of this thread, you guys are spitting judgement on Julian Wright even though no one outside of the Raptors organization know what's the real story.

Maybe he's showing to the management he wants out of Toronto. Why would he play on a lost cause and would put him and his family to shame? Triano should've just waived a white flag or throw a towel on the court to indicate they give up. There's really no point to finish the game and Julian Wright knows it. He's the only one on the bench who has PRIDE and common sense.

We have a coach who doesn't know how to manage rotation. Therefore, I understand Julian Wright's rebellion.

just read this in a article.. very true statement

Well I guess what Julian did is not very professional, regardless of how things are going, but Jay mentioning it in the post-game is petty and reeks of distracting everyone from the actual stinker of a game.

Wright has been underused all season, so I don't blame him for being frustrated. But it's very unprofessional to refuse to play. At the same time, triano talking about it so publically.

he was clearly pissed off that he was never being used and then only in a blowout was he called upon
but if you want to show yourself to other teams that may give you minutes you should never refuse to play, 1st because then teams don't see you play and 2nd because it shows your personality as negative
from what i see he's kind of like a poor man's version of james johnson who i see is a poor man's version of lamar odom
the guy can do the typical PF things like rebound and score, but he's also got the ability to take the ball up the court and distribute when needed
just that james johnson is better at that overall and has a higher potential ceiling
so he's been made obsolete on this team
bye bye wright!
