Josh Smith a possibility?

Word is that he just does NOT get along with the ATL coaching staff at all.... what do you think the chances are of us making a run at him in the off-season if we let Marion go? No idea what his contract situation is right now but would he be worth it if we could make a pitch to him?

Perusing Hawks forums, I've noticed that Josh Smith is kind of like Atlanta's Chris Bosh in terms of being the fans' whipping boy. From what I've seen in games, he's got a tendency to kind of disappear and make boneheaded mistakes from time to time.

That said he's got all the athletic potential in the world and I'd probably be ecstatic if we could scoop him up.

Our D and rebounding would likely improve with him in the lineup but we'd still have perimeter woes and I'm guessing that Smith would want much more than $10M/yr.

Smith relies to much on his outside shot, he doesn't take it to the the hole as much as he should

I would rather get Rudy Gay or Jeff Green

he re-signed last summer for a five year 58 million dollar contract. smith has never gotten along with the coaching staff. i've never been a fan of him, nor would i ever want him on my team. he's overrated by his stats.

i'm a semi-regular on a atlanta falcons board. it's kinda funny because a majority of then think that marvin williams is the shit and joe johnson is expendable. makes you question who's more delusional, us or them.

Josh Smith is having one of his worst seasons ever.
is it the fact that he isnt playing for a contract anymore (after re-signing in the offseason)? is it that he's having issues with the coaches? or is it that he's OVERRATED?

i think its a bit of all three actually.

his money is guarenteed, so he's not going over the top to bust his ass on a nightly basis, and you can see it when he plays. he lacks that passion that makes a player the best. he doesnt have that drive whatsoever.
his coaches see this lack of interest and get on his ass about it, and this causes major tension between him and the coaching staff.
and lastly, he really isnt as good as some people might think. his shot is mediocre, his iq is pretty dull, and he becomes invisible during stretches of games.

Because it would be easy to get either one. Hey, I'd rather go for Lebron.

Josh Smith isn't a possibility because of the long term contract he signed this past off-season, not to mention that the Hawks would ask for quite a bit for him.

As shitty as we are and as much as he would make us better, there are always gonna be people here that'll say no to anyone not named Kobe,Lebron,Wade and a few other select players. Which we have no chance at getting. In our position we'd be lucky to get Josh Smith, even though we won't.

Smith is the younger version of Marion, except Marion can actually hit a jumper from time to time..

Nothing against Josh Smith..he's solid. We need to have talent playing at their natural positions... that's how the good teams win..not by have redundancy in their top talent.

Did I say he can always hit a jumper? No. I said he can hit a jumper from time to time. Time to time can mean 1 in 10 shots, it doesn't mean all the time.
I've never seen Josh Smith hit a jumper.. ever. I'm seen him dunk.. dunk.. and well.. oh yeah, dunk.

Josh Smith does not want to play in Toronto.

He said it himself last off season and that was when Raps were considered to be one of the 4 best teams in the East... the only way he comes here now, is kicking and screaming.
