Default Jose's Reaction to Yesterday's News

From his blog this morning.

I have been through this situation just a few times in my career, perhaps many years ago with Andreu Casadevall in Alicante my first year in the ACB, but I can assure you that it is not a pleasant experience.

In my case, Sam has been my only coach since I came to the NBA. I have spent more than three seasons with him and there have been many months of work together sharing experiences, traveling, games, and also defeats and many pleasures. I remember when I arrived here as a rookie who did not understand everything that was said in the locker-room and how I went from being a secondary player to be "his man" in the team. That is how he told me when I signed my contract this summer. I am grateful by the confidence that he had in me and I want to thank him for all he has done for me these past years. It may not have been easy to trust a young and inexperienced player in the league as he did. I feel badly that between all of us, we have not been able to have a good start this season and we did not allow him to finish, what we all began with huge excitement.

Nevertheless, his substitute is also a great coach. Jay Triano has always been supporting Sam and the team. From here I want give him my support and to say that we are all going to work hard and remain unified, to try to improve the situation. I am sure that we are going achieve our goals, we need a little patience, another bit of confidence and that we avoid possibility of injuries. We're still at the beginning of the season and we still have much to say.

Yeah, because Sam was just horrible for his career. The guy says what he really thinks, period.

I don't agree Jose says what he thinks. Jose is very concerned about his public persona. Case in point: He waited until the end of the season to state that he wanted to be a starting PG. During the season he asked the coaching staff to go back to the bench.

He suggested the change, but didn't express anything contrary to wanting to be a starter. There is no onus on him to comment at all about Sam at this point. What makes you think that he is going out of his way to say nice things about Sam just for the sake of his public persona?

Here's a case in point - the guy always said that he wanted to sign here, and when he signed here nobody on the planet had bigger smiles than Sam and Jose. But I wonder what they really thought about each other?

I'm not trying to say that Jose is not saying the truth about his relationship with Sam. I'm just saying that Jose doesn't always say what he thinks.

Yeah - sorry - I thought that might be the case. Let me just address those other two knobs then.

the reality is that if Jose hated Sam's guts, he would still say good things about him - any non-rodman player would do the same. I'm pretty sure Jose wasn't TJ's best friend, and yet he never said a single bad word about him. So yes - it's irrelevant from this perspective.

That being said, I would think Sam had a good relation with most of our players - as far as I know he is regarded as a players' coach, and he has a reputation for fairness. His problems are not character, but skill.

So you think Jose hated TJ or something? Maybe he never said a bad word about him because he had no need to. I didn't see him go out of his way to say great things about him on his blog. And again - go back and look at the presser when Jose was signed, and tell me that you want to downplay what Jose is saying in his blog. That would be severely stupid no?

Shaq does a lot of this. I think he did it evertime he got traded away. i remember when he got traded from Miami he made fun of Quinn LOL

Oh please Gurk, you are clearly too young and naive. Nobody means what they say about anything.

J/K - good point. And why don't we add Phil Jackson to the list of people who have no problem in throwing players under the bus. Remember how Kobe was uncoachable?

Really - not everything good that gets said about Sam needs to be utterly disregarded. There's no need to see the entire universe as being entirely cynical and false just to make your own prejudices true.

i think Jose is a class act and probably means what he says when he speaks. It is a shame that we cast dispursion on every comment guys make. Let's just accept it for what it was and watch his career and then determine what he actually meant. Not every nba player is as classless as Stephon Marbury or LaTrell Sprewell or Shaq.

Much respect to Jose. Always stays optimistic and looks on what he can help the team with.

Anyone hear the NBA TV coverage of Sam's firing? Kenny Smith asked what their expectations actually were and David Aldridge said that with Jose being one of the best point guards in the league and the acquisition of JO that they had high expectations.

Kenny started laughing and asked how long the list of the best point guards in the league was, and that it had to be very long....

Here it is.. i just found it.

Kenny Smith has had a hate on for this team for as long as I can remember. He's an ignoramus who loves listening to himself.

The sad thing is, the way Jose is playing, it is laughable to consider him a top pg.

DAMMIT!
It's true.

why can't Jose just get over his hamstring strain and be his usual old self already?!

Same with Fernando Torres.

WTF!
