Jose Vs T.J-"One Thread to unite them all"

Lets try and keep it all in one place.

Any chance I can get mod powers for this thread only :D

I laughed pretty hard when I read this title. I'll give more on two cents a tad later.

We could start with a Benzo poll on who is better, you can only vote if you have watched 80% of the games, lol. Im joking, actually I gave the Idea to Mike about only Rap fans could vote. We wont have that problem anymore haha.

Now seriously, I think Calde has being huge the last games, and I bet Sam is starting to think for real for the first time, that he can go with either one of them. Tj is going to work his ass off to make people forget about Jose starting.
I like this competetion, it will only make both of them better.

Ball Don't Lie 12-03-2007 04:17 PM

Jose is a much better true PG right now, TJ has potential to be the better PG in the future once he 'gets it'. Both should be top 10 PG's for a long time to come. That is all.

insight_tor 12-03-2007 04:30 PM

This is a new and interesting topic ... I wonder why is not discuss on other Raptors related online boards

Claudius 12-03-2007 06:50 PM

lol.

The one thing I'm slowly realizing is that if we NEED to move one of them, now is the time. Jose's value is at an all time high and I'd love to grab him for that key swing man we need right now. At the same time though, having two starting PG's is a benefit few teams can have.

rapsfan087 12-03-2007 08:04 PM

I like more Calderon, but both of them are neccesary in this team. BC should try to stay with both of them.

fancylad 12-04-2007 09:02 AM

chalk one up for Calde ;)

jokes aside, i'm with raps087. we need both. we really do, but moreover, these TJ stingers have me a tad concerned. That's quite a few games he's missed now and who knows how often this problem will re-surface when he does get back?

Forderon is the key.

Acie 12-04-2007 09:51 AM

I think TJ is a better PG/Coach in a suit than Martin. I meant just look at the performance he coaxed out of Graham.

Belsius 12-04-2007 10:08 AM

Aci thats what I was thinking all the game long

alseaf 12-04-2007 11:25 AM

Look, the reason we are so lucky to have em both is so aparent in the last few games. Our starter, TJ, goes down for a couple of games. On a team with a shitty backup PG or even an average one... They'd b raped over and over. The ball won't go where it needs to , the tempo gets messed up, other team takes advantage of the noob backup Pg etc... BUT for us, the last few games Jose has put up Allstar worthy numbers for a PG and keeping teammates happy and most importantly, getting us wins. This is what it's all about. What i'd wish though, is for TJ to accept the fact that even though he makes way more money (for now) Jose should be giving the starting role if hes playing like hes playign rite now.

That's a great true. I hope Graham and Humps go on this track all the time.

I think there's something fishy about these stingers. First, it's supposed to be a game or two, then it's three, and after 2 games where he obviously was not himself, TJ is back on the shelf ??? What if he has one of these in game 1 of the conference finals? Are we stuck playing Martin for the rest of the series?

Tommy2Tymes 12-05-2007 01:01 AM

I love Jose, seriously, i'd let him touch it. Ford is just too mistake prone IMO. The offense flows much better when JC is manning the point and it seems as if we're not stuck with TJ forcing a shot(ill-advised usually) with 3 or 4 seconds left on the shot clock.

But its the injuries that worry me the most, TJ is just an injury waiting to happen. Luckily these guys seem to like each other and support one another. But who knows what TJ's reaction would be if JC was named starter.

If it was up to me, I'd deal TJ in a heartbeat.

Regardless of the fact that TJ has essentially the same skill set as Jose? And that TJ is two years younger with less experience than Jose?

I'm not saying I disagree with you, but IF we lose oen or the other what would the long term consequences be of that decision. We're a team that relies on two PGs and if we do decided to deal one of them we need to be sure that we have a very good back-up, otherwise I think we take a step back.

Just Get Something Back For Whoever>>>>do Not Let Either Go For Free

Tommy2Tymes 12-05-2007 01:13 AM

Definitely agree with you C. We would need to secure a solid backup PG(Ukic would not be the solution at this point and time IMO). Give D-Mart a coaching gig and give another guy a chance to see what he could do. I'm sure BC could find someone. But yeah, we need 2 solid PG's in our system.

It's not that I'm dead set against TJ b/c he does do good things, but I cringe every time he drives or takes a fade-away. He needs to learn a thing or two from JC(Not Jesus Christ, Jose Calderon!) and his decision making.

Jay 12-05-2007 01:19 AM

As tired as I am of this conversation (see many previous posts), this is some of the more intelligent conversation about it.

Is TJ turning into Fix Or Repair Daily? I'm telling you, you can't rush back from "stingers". Quite often problems that are more serious and misdiagnosed...be careful...

Contract and the fact his health with these annual stingers that are occuring as often as they are, is going to make it next to impossible to deal Ford elsewhere. Face it lads, Ford's staying and Jose is most likely going. :(

Your still upset at BC for not getting a superstar in return for Mo Pete, eh Benzo? ;)
