Was that when Jack was our PG?

Absolutely, he's a class act and seems to put team first. That's why I was caught off guard when someone called him a cancer the other day. That's ridiculous.

Yes. We started struggling after the All-star break then Bosh got hurt and the season went down the toilet from there.

I wasn't thrilled when we traded Jack to N.O. in the Bayless trade. Jack played with a chip on his shoulder and was pretty good defensively. Now he's helped Golden State a lot. We don't have enough players with chips on their shoulder. I haven't forgotten the game where Pierce ran Bosh and our reaction was meek.

Unfortunately, we haven't progressed very far since then.

Like Popovich said " I want some nasty" We could use some.

Jose Calderon is a joke, and won't be in the league after this season. Thank God for that.

There, I said it. How am I better than raptor123? Would you like to see me making threads every week about how good is Kleiza, disguised with other concerns?
You're better because that's logical, and I'm actually not against it.
When Bargs can shoot better then 25% he can get back in the lineup.

Well, well, well...

My only knock on Lowry (yes, here we go again) is that he doesn't do nearly enough to set up his teammates. I am old school, so for me the primary offensive role of a point guard is not to score, but rather to make sure his teammates are getting the ball in a position to score, and scoring only if that's absolutely the best option available on the play. Other than that, he is a terrific player at both ends of the floor, although a bit less gambling on defence would do wonders for his game.

The 11 assist's he had against Sarcramento was just so shabby.

One game does not a pass-first point guard make. I could offer you a mental exercise: close your eyes and try to picture Lowry on offence. What is he doing?

Close your eye's and imagine what the other players on the floor are doing.

There are 2 part's. The passer and the receiver. If the receiver doesn't move well without the ball, then the passer is screwed. If he can attack the paint and draw the defence, it opens the other players up to receive the pass. The rest of the Raptors are god-awful moving without the ball.

Yeah, the off the ball movement and awareness is pretty glum. Even with DeRozan, where there is some chemistry, you see him late to react and cut into the lane for a pass when the opportunity arises. On more than one occasion I've seen Lowry have to hold onto the ball waiting for someone to present themselves for a pass when he's attracted three defenders.

It's a different style that these guys are going to need to adjust to in time. The real focus needs to be on defense.

This.

Really not sure what people are expecting from Lowry at this point. He's obviously the team's most talented offensive player and the ONLY guy who can consistently get to the FT line.

I would be more than happy to see Kyle drop 17 & 13 rather than 30 & 7.... but until someone else steps up and starts carrying the load on a regular basis along with him we're probably going to need those points.

Rumours have surfaced over the past few days that the Raptors have inquired about the availability of Los Angeles Lakers centre Pau Gasol and the names Toronto might have to give up could include Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon, but Sam Mitchell thinks that would be a dicey move.

The former Raptors coach, who was a guest on Tim and Sid on Sportsnet 590 The Fan Friday, said, "If I'm the Lakers, I do that deal in a heartbeat."

Mitchell, who coached both Calderon and Bargnani with the Raptors, said that the pieces would fit better in Los Angeles than Gasol might in Toronto.

"You're getting a quality back-up point guard in Jose Calderon who can run that pick-and-roll offence that Steve Nash who is 38, 39 years old is going to be asked to do. So your point guard position is now solidified," he explained.

"Also, Andrea, whether he is making shots or not, he's known as a three-point shooter. He's seven-foot guy that can stretch the court, create space and allow the pick and roll to develop."

While the deal would solve problems for the Lakers, Mitchell wondered how they would fit in Toronto.

"The question on the Raptors side is: What do you do with Pau Gasol?" Mitchell asked.

"Everyone talks about how good Pau Gasol is -- and he is -- but Pau Gasol hasn't lived up to a $19-million contract the last two years," Mitchell said, although he pointed out that a change of scenery might help revive Gasol.

Mitchell was asked whether Calderon, who will play his 500th game as a Raptor Friday night, is underappreciated in Toronto.

"Maybe I'm biased when it comes to Jose but I would not have won coach of the year without Jose Calderon."
