Olympic basketball NEEDS to leave this current format behind and go to something similar to men's soccer: under 2_ (pick an age, i'll go with 23) team + 3 players of your choice regarldess of age.

Same with hockey. Pro's don't really belong at the olympics if you ask me.

this would lead to the USA kicking even more ass i'd say.

Jeff, did you actually play basketball...I'd assume no, in fact, I'd assume you have no idea what you're actually saying aside from some automated response youve learned from a messageboard.

Stop. You haven no idea.

Posts like these are why I continue to come back to RF. You dont get quality comedy like this at RGM. SJ at his best just breaking posters down mentally.

He'll play 8min per quarter imo. Book it.
There is more competition at his position... don't write cheques your mouth can't cash. DD needs to prove he deserves those minutes now.... unless we keep shipping out players that outperform him like we did with Leandro.

There is? He has a rookie playing behind him. Even if his minutes go down from the 35mpg he got last season you seriously think he gets less than 30, and if so how much less with a rookie backing him up? We don't even know how Ross will be at all. He wasn't even that good in summer league. I think Derozan's minutes (30+) are pretty safe imo.He got 35mpg last season with Barbosa playing behind him for the first two months which imo is more competition than he'll have this season. Who do you think will out perform him this season at SG......a rookie? Besides, they keep going on about how much stronger he's getting. Obviously they think he'll continue to get large minutes.

leandro outperformed DD? not having that.

also, if leandro had been a starter i think he would've struggled, 6th man is the right role for him.

If Ross works out and can shoot/defend his position and Fields does well it allows us to have Calderon, Derozan, Kleiza as players that can be moved along with one of Amir or Davis. I'm sure something can be done with that, but that's IF Ross shows he can handle large minutes which i have doubts about at least in his rookie year.
:bosh:

yeah, i'm not gonna put my points too definitively (like "DD had a shitty year,") it is debateable, barbo and DD are both frustrating players but i really like them both as well. I think there's more good than bad in both of them.

i just can't accept that DD had a shitty year.

agreed..... but I was less impressed with DD, though may have been a function of expectations as well.

i (gulp) totally agree with Jeff. I just don't see Derozan going backwards, i'd be very surprised if he doesn't come back looking quite a bit better.

Long as he grew some balls and is willing to take some contact, and actually drive and stop being so scared then it'll be alright. If he still shys away from contact with his terrible jumper, it will be last year all over again.

Chig, he has balls. Its extremely hard to do what you want him too when your fundamentals are lacking. NBA defenders and defences cloe lanes so fast it isnt funny, you cant get that sense when you watch on TV because it looks so open, but its not. For him it really starts with getting that outside shot going, I think he made strides last off season, but then the season itself regressed him because they really had no time to practice.... Once that happens, it will open things up a little, and then he will have to learn to get by people technically, not just with athleticism. But growing balls? Nah, he has those, he just needs ot learn to put himself in better positions to use them. I think he can.

agreed.

he's not physically scared, he's scared of messing up. He'll drive, they'll help D on him and he won't get the foul calls. TO or blocked/missed shot. Cue scrutiny.
