Jose is such a beast. I hope we hang on to him. He'll be a borderline all star for a contender. You'll see!

Honestly I wouldn't be at all surprised if we saw Jose getting a few minutes at SG with Lowry on the floor this season. Very few teams have great shooting guards and with Lowry on the explosive PGs it would minimize Jose's poor defense while highlighting his high percentage shooting. Plus it might help him develop a more aggressive shooting mentality which in the three seasons of watching Jose I can say has been his only other flaw.

Hah you know what's funny though, everytime there's a pg controversy it's not Jose who's the one complaining. He always comes out on top!

To be honest I dont think the whole "PG controversy" has ever been a big problem for the team. Not with TJ and not with Jack. Its been a problem to some posters on this forum and maybe some writers who have to create controversies to sell, but I dont remember it ever affecting the team much. Jose has been great of the bench before and I think he will be next year too. He is overpaid for that role, but then again what NBA team doesnt have one or two overpaid role players.

And its unlikely that both of them stay healthy for the whole season anyway. Its better to have a good PG to replace injured one than have to play some of the guys we have had to play at PG during last few seasons.

I remember him being none too pleased a couple years ago when he came back from injury and we were on a roll with Jack so Jack remained the starter for nearly two more months.

These PG "controversies" in the past were because neither guy was distinctly better than the other. One guy got hot, the other guy might have gotten cold, etc. Jose's never really "won" the spot so much as it hasn't ever been taken from him.

There is no grey area now. Lowry is just better, period.

Was he complaining publicly? Or did it affect his game (i.e. playing bad when coming off the bench)? Or the team?

In my opinion any good player that is getting less PT than before should be none too pleased and try to fight and show what he is worth to get the PT back. Thats competitive spirit and guys need that to be good.

What they dont need to do is start complaining publicly or even within team so that it causes a distraction. They need to play hard and compete for the spot.

I just dont remember Calderon complaining about coming off the bench during season. The only time I remember him commenting on the issue was during one off season when he said he wants to be a starter and I see nothing wrong with that.

If Lowry is clearly better than Jose (I really havent seem him enough to judge), we are in great position as Jose in past has also been great of the bench and we would have very good PG pair in our hands.

Considering Jose has already stated his opinion during off season and has so far been nothing but professional about things (so he probably wont complain during season), it might work to our advantage as he will also want to show his best next season to attract attention for next off-season and might play very well off the bench or if he needs to replace Lowry due to injury.

One was easier to trade with a much better contract while the other was overpayed and coming off a couple seasons of injuries. We then turned around and tried to trade the other and are trying again. If he was so great he'd be a lot easier to deal.

haha

I really do hope we keep Jose. We need him to help us get in to the playoffs and get Valanciunius going in the early part of the year.
