With most players wanting to play there, they can do much better.
I agree. I've never been a big fan of Calderon. Quite the opposite actually - I've been highly critical of his play and thought BC overpaid him.

But in LA, the PG isn't asked to do that much, especially in the triangle offence. Calderon has a better skill set than Derek Fisher and Steve Blake. His lack of quickness and inconsistencies to get into the lane and create would be masked in the triangle offence since movement and spacing are the keys to the offence's success.

What kills me about him is when everyone goes on about how good a shooter he is. Yet on a shit team he averages what, 10ppg.

Well he never looks for his own shot first. He's not that type of guy. His role has always for years been to get the rest of the team involved and clicking on offense. and you know what? he's good at it. For the majority of last season the team was far more effective with him running the point.

Also even though i've been a backer of his for a long time, i actually don't think he's that great a shooter.

No matter how safe he plays, which he does I agree he's a good passer. But he's a good shooter, and on a team that lacks depth and is very young he as a veteran should have more balls at times and take the initiative to be more offensive when needed. Then again, maybe that just speaks to what type of PG we want here which everyone has an opinion on.

Not that I'd want Jose out or take his words too seriously (@SJ: right, context is missing, obviously), but I do believe he'd be a good fit on the Lakers team, especially if they are going away from the triangle. Any other type of offense puts premium on a pass-first, low-turnovers point guard who has to be defended in pick-and-roll situations and who is not so bad defensively on a good defensive team with two imposing 7-footers protecting the paint.

I don't see Bynum coming our way, Bargs or not, and doubt LA would have anything else of value to send back otherwise, though.

In an interview with Jim Rome he said he will NOT be using the triangle offense.

Also, I'm surprised by some of the comments here. Really, really surprised.

He'd have to compete with Steve Blake for backup PG duties, and Blake trains MMA at Team Quest. Good luck Jose.

jose would look good in LA. really good. he's a much better player than fisher, and if fisher's defense is passable in LA then Jose's defense would more than suffice.

Jose is a pretty good PG. LA doesn't need him to be a star, they need a smart and mature guard that can follow a plan.

Kobe would love him, so would Pau.
