Exclamation Jose Was "Benched" Last Night

Ugh .... this can't be good.

This wasn’t injury related – Jose told me 90 minutes to tip off Friday that he was feeling as good as he has in weeks – so the 1-6 shooting, 3-point, 6-assist furball he spit up has to be chalked up to one of those nights. Watching the last seven or so minutes from the bench was not something he’s accustomed to, and not something I can remember Jay doing at all this season.

And, no, it wasn’t his defence, which isn’t good by any stretch; this was his offence, his attitude and his effort.

No idea where it came from because I don’t think anyone can or should dispute the fact he’s always had great attitude and effort.

Trouble was, and this goes to my next point, when Calderon isn’t going well, there’s no one else who can pick up the slack right now.

I don't care what anyone says, he's nowhere near 100%. Plus he is tired. If he plays for Spain this summer he should be traded. After signing his contract, the Raptors should be his main priority.

I don't know about anyone else but I want to rest Jose for the season. It just seems like the right thing to do right now

+5

I like the guy, but this National team shit has to stop.

If he plays, and fucks his team over with another 70% healthy year, I will kick his balls

It's all speculation as to how hurt he really is, if he says he is fine, i think you gotta take it at face value. I just think alot of ppl expected too much, he isnt an elite PG. He is a decent one offensively and horrible defensively.

unless I'm somehow stupid all of a sudden, the guy I watched last year, and the first few games this year ain't the guy I see now.

Since I doubt he has forgotton to play, I would think it's safe to assume he's hurt.

Jose has the weakest left hand out of all the pgs in the NBA. Smart teams dare him to crossover their lead foot and go left, and they just anticipate that drive right. He's just to weak to go left on guys. Teams take away 50% of the entire court when they guard him. That is a huge advantage we're playing against. He's got nothing now, everyone has figured him out.

He's smart.

He has heart.

He's a great backup.

The majority of us thought he was one of the best pgs in the world last year, and it should be obvious to everyone of us that we were wrong.

He's not injured, he's shook. He's running out of ideas, and he's losing his confidence.

It's also safe to assume that he is one of the better PG's in the league imo. We've seen that. And even at 70% this season his stats are pretty good. I know, i know stats aren't evertyhing....

how is it safe to say that jeff?? a nice stretch last year as one of the better PGs doesnt mean you get that recognition forever...... in 4 years in the nba he has shown to be a really good starter for a couple months. You cant put him in the category of one of the better ones for that, unless it's pure homerism. You ask any ppl outside the dot, they wont name him when they are naming really good PGs.

Seriously, you still dont see how his stats are inflated compared to his impact on games?? wow

Calderon shoots almost an identical number of shots from the right elbo and wing as he does his left, the only difference is that he has a higher percentage when he goes left.

Nice scouting report though, you must actually be working for the Raps with that crack intelligence report Gumshoe

Man I love the bullshit you guys think up. I love disproving it even more.

The one thing you can't argue with when comparing both seasons is that he is still a poor defender.
