And ffs... who goes to Wasaga in this weather!!! WTF Jonas!!!

Btw... the open beer in the car, was he alone and wondering was it his? must have been since he blew over. Just wondering because its fine in europe for passengers to drink while the driver is driving so long as the driver isn't drunk.

Ps, his case can be easily postponed to summer thats if our shitty courts even get around to it by then. maybe xcoppers can get him off ;/
It's not, at least not in Lithuania

do you mean .032?If he was .32 he was blasted.Just glad no one was hurt, part of growing is making mistakes.I hope he takes responsibility and this is the last of this nonsense.I think most of us in our younger days made bad choices and it will be how he handles this and learns from it that will show the man he is.

Raptors' Jonas Valanciunas charged with drinking and driving | Basketball | Sports | Toronto Sun

"The charge came at about 2:30 a.m. Monday morning after Valanciunas went through a drive-thru with open beer bottles in his car. The information was forwarded to police who subsequently tracked down the vehicle and, after a short investigation, charged Valanciunas with “exceeding 80 mgs.”

Poor judgment on his part, and could have been dangerous. Glad no one was hurt, and hopefully he gets his head screwed on right. Never any excuse to drive drunk, but especially when you're a millionaire and can easily afford a driver.

Come on, Jonas, time to grow up.

Oh, and for those worried, very unlikely this impacts the playoffs, or any time this season. Much more likely to get postponed to the summer, and he'll serve a game or two suspension to start the next season.

If he's under 21 and has his graduated licensing bs, isn't 0.01 the limit and not 0.08? that would upset me if they got him on that. .32 is blackout drunk.

Well, I'd like to know what they mean by "drunk". If it's two beers instead of one and he was caught in a RIDE - that's one thing. If he was drunk enough to exhibit erratic driving - that's quite another, at least IMHO.

But yeah, with his salary, he could easily afford a limo with a driver to take him to Wasaga and back. Although... who the fuck goes to Wasaga in April?

That would make sense. He looks worse than .08 there. He looks like he's been in an accident.

Finally caught up - 0.08? Seriously? The kid is not very bright (open beer bottles in the car), but road killer he is not.

The idle Toronto Raptors made news away from the court on Monday.

Second-year centre Jonas Valanciunas has been charged with impaired driving, having been stopped in Wasaga Beach, Ont., about 2:30 a.m. ET after allegedly being spotted with open beer bottles while travelling through a drive-thru.

Police say officers located the vehicle at a home, where they arrested Valanciunas alleging he was under the influence of alcohol while driving.

Valanciunas is charged with having greater than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood and is to appear in court in nearby Collingwood on April 22.

"I hold myself to a high standard and take my role as a member of the Toronto Raptors very seriously," Valanciunas said in a statement released by the team. "I apologize to the organization, my teammates, my family and my fans, and regret any negativity this incident has brought upon them."

Earlier, the Raptors issued a statement, saying they are disappointed Valanciunas is in this situation.

“We take this matter very seriously," said the NBA team, "as we have the highest expectations for all members of our organization. At this time we are continuing to gather information and we will comment further when appropriate.”

Valanciunas, 21, is averaging 11 points and 8.6 rebounds in 76 games this season.

Alcohol must have become the drug of choice in the NBA. Kidd got nailed, so did Budenholzer from Atlanta. Don't know how many players may have been caught too and we didn't hear about. Kidd and Budenholzer are old enough to know better. Val, too young, but still has time to grow up.

I expect his team-mates to close ranks around him.

every hundredth of a percent impairs your judgement. it slows down your reaction time at the very minimum. I read this in a MADD article once.can't find it now. but the point is still there. no reason to drink and drive for anyone, let alone someone making close to 4 million a year
