The Joke is on Us

A team-leading 20 points and four rebounds for Andrea Bargnani(notes). Charlie Villanueva(notes) hit a lay-up (somewhat) over him in the paint after a Raptor turnover during the fourth quarter, and it was the softest meeting I've seen since one of my cats fell asleep on an unopened 12-pack of toilet paper I left in my living room Wednesday night.
On NBATV Rick Mahorn was making comments about Andrea always hanging outside the arc. And on the clip where Andrea scores inside off the pass from Sonny on a break, he had a laugh about him getting in there too close - "he might catch a cold".

Don Vito 03-17-2011 05:26 PM

One play last night where a piston went right into Bargnani for a layup, Bargnani didn't even contest it.. he just watched. I think it was Matt Devlin or Jack Armstrong who called him out... Bargnani is a liability, trading him this off-season is a must.

If we can find a C to compliment him and move Bargs to PF then...wait but what about Amir and Ed. Darn. If Reggie can be dealt and then a C acquired from FA, then you can have Bargs/C in the front court with Ed and Amir coming off the bench. But if all else fails, we can't have Bargs as our C with that defense.

gnarl 03-17-2011 05:40 PM

Bargnani shouldn't be playing any time at the PF position for us. We're stacked there. Bargnani needs to go.

Don Vito 03-17-2011 05:58 PM

Fuck Bargnani at the PF, Amir/Davis are much better for that role.

jeffb 03-17-2011 06:30 PM

4 rebounds vs Detroit, 3 of which were off his own shots. So in other words he had 1reb the entire game that he actually went after without having taken the shot himself. He's an embarrassment to this team imo. The lack of effort alone (which seems to have only got worse over the last 6 seasons) should get him traded. The only problem now is that this is his reputation throughout the league so his worth isn't great at this point.

I didn't watch it but I think u mean rick kamla ?

TORaptor4Ever 03-17-2011 06:55 PM

Man.... you guys are such haters! It's not Andrea's fault that Triano can't coach defense! He's not teaching Bargs the right way! And everyone always takes the rebounds away from him! How is he supposed to get any?? His job is to score the ball and look pretty doing it.... that's it. Who cares if he gives up basket after basket and guys go for career highs against him? He scores 20 pts dammit!!

Sounds kind of ridiculous doesn't it? :mischief:

No, I think he means former player and NBA TV analyst Rick Mahorn. :reporter:

Really, because he had one offensive rebound and three defensive rebounds, so unless he was shooting at his own basket...

To be honest i heard that today on the radio. lol

So maybe the lesson here is, don't rely on toronto sports media when they discuss anything not played on ice. I didn't watch much of the game anyway.

0nekhmer 03-17-2011 07:18 PM

usually his offense makes up for his defence but when he is struggling offensively.. :tombstone:

See i think it's the opposite, his defence/reb/blks (lack there of) deminishes whatever he does on offense. And when his offense isn't there he's rendured useless and becomes a large liability.

js12 03-17-2011 07:59 PM

I also have a problem of how he gets his offence.

At least early on in the season, he did not rely on the jump shooting too much. He actually tried posting up consistently.

Recently, he's living or dying by the jump shot.

yeah, i believe that he's lost any drive to put the effort out to get to the rim as the season goes on and we keep losing. it's as if he just doesn't care on most nights because we're not going anwhere this season, essentially giving up.

MrClutch 03-17-2011 08:55 PM

i wish we had omar asik as our centre, he plays really good as a backup C for the bulls

js12 03-17-2011 09:08 PM

I seriously think Chicago is a good trading partner.

We should unload Barbosa there, since they desire point production at the SG position.

Asik and Brewer for Barbosa.

DDaring 03-18-2011 06:16 AM

Colangelo, Triano, Bargnani, and Calderon all must go. This team can never succeed with those four.

You're right, but you think a team od Bayless DD Jhonson amir/ed and whatever center availlable is going somewhere?

fancylad 03-18-2011 06:57 AM

Bargnani is a good player. end of. He has skills and he has weaknesses. It's up to the coaching staff to figure out how to best use him. It's easy to hate on him, but to me in spite of his weaknesses, he is clearly one of the better players on this team. We need natural talent badly and this guy has it. Figure out how to best use it.
