Raptors John Lucas III might play some SG?

Would much rather have bayless for that role. Ughh

“[The Raptors] told me to play my game and bring energy,” said Lucas, who will wear No. 5 with his new club after sporting No. 15 for the Bulls and Houston Rockets. “They’re thinking about playing me more at the one and the two, so it’s going to be interesting.

“I can’t wait because it’s a new start, a new beginning for me, starting a whole new chapter in my career.”

Oh God. LeBron jumped over him last year with ease. The guy can score, just please don't play him there. Atleast chances are if he does it'll only be like 5-10 minutes though as we are packed at the 2.

I can see Lowry and Jose playing together at times.

But Lucas? No way. Hes at his best when hes the primary ball handler and jacking up shots, not a off the ball player. And hes too damn small and weak.

No way will he get minutes at the two. Derozan will get 30mpg, then you have Ross and i would guess that if Jose is still here he'll also get a couple minutes there. This smacks of when Alabi last summer said he was told he could possibly start at Center when the season started. lol

If they're telling him he'll play some SG they're full of shit.

i agree

I think he'll stick to back up pg. Which isn't bad, because he's proven he can make shots and contribute

Yeah, no way he gets time at the 2. He's only 5-11. Jason Terry is the only successful small 2 that I can think of and he is 6-2.

I would say that it's insurance. I would say that they still plan on dealing Jose and if not he's liable to get hurt. That, plus he's cheap and on a 1yr deal with a TO for a second. He's no long term solution but can play some minutes if need be. My guess is that in any deal involving Jose they want a decent PG in return to be a backup with Lucas as the 3rd PG. I could eventually see a deal where Calderon is dealt with Amir + filler for a SF and a depth PG. But who the hell knows, i'm not a fan of signing him anyway.

Give it a rest man, honestly. Your new lover boy has been hurt more than Jose in the last two years.

Did Beaubois and/or Barea play some 2 alongside Kidd in Dallas? Maybe that's the sort of role they have in mind? It could also just be something he was told to smooth out concerns about playing time. Which sucks if that's the case. I would hope he was told he could be given a shot to compete for minutes at sg.

Lowry- 122GP

Calderon- 121GP

But i don't think a life threatening infection is necessarily an injury. But if it makes you feel better they're both liable to get hurt.

Then Lucas can start

Lucas would be a fine backup in a shorter rotation. He'd need a bigger guard out there with him for defense, but it could work out just fine. Particularly if they get a good piece in a Jose trade. If they landed Iggy, then Lucas could be asked to defer to him as a point forward to some degree. I'm more than willing to see how they plan to put all the pieces together, and I'd rather see a shorter rotation.

Look, everyone is entitled to their opinion on who is the better point guard, but this reasoning is just strange. You think Jose makes the US team? You don't think Lowry makes the Spanish team? Come now.
