Default JO is on the Bargs Bandwagon

Quote:
"Man, it was good," O'Neal said. "I had heard a lot about him. But he came in and he worked hard. He beat me to the gym every single day and he left when I left and that's a lot. We put in some five-hour days in the gym.

"When you watch a person work out you learn a lot about him," O'Neal said. "Some guys are naturally gifted and don't like to work real hard. They just breeze through.

"This guy was working hard and he really wanted it. I don't know what has gone on with him before here, but he really accepted the challenge. We played together for the first week and the next week we played against each other. He didn't shy away and I was trying to beat him to death."

But what amazed O'Neal the most was the quickness Bargnani possesses and while it might not go over well with his new bosses, O'Neal came right out and said playing Bargnani at small forward would be a mistake.

"Now, I have heard about them playing him at the three, and this is just me, the team is going to do what they're going to do, but I believe there is no (power forward or centre) in the league who can guard him. You put a three on him and he'll keep up with him, but fours and fives will be dead in the water."
JO is a smart man, except when he says Bargs shouldnt play at the three.
How dare he disagree with what I think.......

So far, JO has been perfect.

Every word out of his mouth is what we wanna hear. I always liked the dude, and if he can stay healthy and get this team to the next level, I will tattoo his name on my (hairy) ass!

ohh and regarding AB and his position, it doesnt really matter, as long as he can play with JO and CB on the floor, this team will be sick.

And by playing I don't mean what he did last year, I mean what we thought he would do last year.

I'll believe that when I see it.

JO seems to know his basketball - who would have thunk it?

Of course Bargnani is not a three. He can shoot it, but so can Okur and Dirk and noone is saying those guys are small forwards, right?

Yea I agree Mike, I just don't like the idea of Bargs playing the 3. It will be difficult for him, especially since he went to "big man camp" to "become a big man in the NBA"

I've thought for a while that if Bargs can ever get his shit together considering his quickness, he could really use it unlike any other big men. His ability to blow by a player near the three point line and go in for a dunk, not many can do that.

He doesn't even really need ball-handling skills so much. He can take practically just one dribble from the arc and make it to the basket. Now I think he's tried to force that a bit too much in the past and been caught with the traveling calls, and committing charges. But if he works more from inside the arc, then that one dribble doesn't have to be started and finished with perfect timing, and he doesn't have to find himself lunging too much and overly committed as he approaches the net. And his passing skills will come into play much more. It's all about moving in and playing inside.

I've never really found Bargs to get caught walking as much as dragging his pivot foot on that ridiculous pump fake of his. Hopefully he's worked that out...

I would also have to agree that Bargs really shouldn't be playing SF if they are serious about him being the real deal as a 'big man' in the NBA. I'd really prefer Bargs come off the bench, he could still get decent minutes subbing in for both JO and Bosh.

Playing him at the 3 is giving up the idea of him ever being an effective centre, imho. You don't send someone to big man camp and have them work their ass off to bulk up then have them play the 3 for Christ's sake. If he ends up spending the season just sitting at the arch this season is going to be a disaster for him.

It's also going to be horrible if Smitch/Colangelo don't make up their minds and have AB rotating through starter/bench/3/5 all season with no direction.

As long as AB has so many ppl pointing fingers at others and making excuses for him, he will never be flop!!! Keep on trucking in that busted ol Bargnani bandwagon!! Til the wheels fall off baby.
