Jerryd Bayless

Why are people so hung up on him? He had a great start but now he isn't so hot. He's a shoot-first player with no court vision. He is NOT our future. Every time he's on the court he just rushes into the paint looking for fouls. Mean while Jose is the damn glue on this team. He's the only player willing to pass. Give the ball to Derozan, Weems, Bargs, Barbosa, or Bayless and they just hold until the ball. Everytime he's on the court I can't wait for him to get subbed. He makes stupid decisions, and is better suited at the 2.

The only players I want to see held onto on this team are Jose, Amir, Derozan, Johnson, and Ed. Maybe Bargnani if he plays D.

I know all of you will all start to flame but hear me out; what has he done in the last few games worth talking about? I personally would never put a PG in the starting lineup unless they are pass first. He is EXPENDABLE.

lol Who said he was our future?

carp 03-03-2011 04:46 PM

kid is playing injured, and has only been part of the team for a couple months.... more should be judged on how he comes out of the offseason next year. Same with James Johnson.

Gurk 03-03-2011 04:47 PM

I will give him next season to redeem himself. He has been injured a lot and I think he can still turn it around. He played really good when he first came

Superjudge 03-03-2011 04:48 PM

He seems like a bit of a spaz actually. But I like him, he brings a good intensity.

LX 03-03-2011 04:50 PM

Ed Davis needs to be on that list in a hurry.

RAPMAN 03-03-2011 05:04 PM

Why are people so critical of Bayless. He is our back-up point guard. He accepts his role and there is no point guard controversy. If people want to be critical, look at the defiencies of our starting five and our coach.

as if!

jrob23 03-03-2011 05:11 PM

Derrick Rose is a shoot first PG, you wouldn't want him?

but yeah Bayless is pretty bad, only thing good about him is his ability to get to the basket, terrible decision maker, not a good shooter, and is a only minor upgrade over Jose's D

finstock 03-03-2011 05:17 PM

I like his demeanor on the court, but he lacks important intangibles (ball IQ, vision). And physically, he leaves a lot to be desired. He has bad hands for a PG (tends to fumble the rock a lot), and short arms. When he makes a lay up in traffic, it's usually blind luck.

Alex 03-03-2011 05:24 PM

Forgot about ED. :S

And everytime the future is discussed about this franchise, I see JB's name.

Don Vito 03-03-2011 05:33 PM

Bayless is the future.

MikeToronto 03-03-2011 05:37 PM

Bayless is crap.

What's rediculous is thinking Bayless is someone to have to keep and build around at this point. Derozan maybe, that's understandable.....but Bayless? The jury is still out on that one.

And that's what i had to say. You're right a couple people here thought that but come on, at this point anyone who thinks he is our future PG needs to give their head a shake.

RaptorsandBuckeye FaN 03-03-2011 06:02 PM

Agree.

EggsToTheBBQ 03-03-2011 06:27 PM

I reserve judgment on Bayless. It's too early.

Bayless needs an offseason to increase his shooting percentages, and after that a solid stretch as the starter before a good evaluation can be made.

I think that if he puts in the work he can be a solid Jameer Nelson type PG in the NBA. He's never going to be a Chris Paul, but I personally don't think that's what great teams need out of their PG.

Same goes for James Johnson. If he puts in the work he can be a solid contributor, but right now he's still adjusting to his new team and learning how to fit the role.

i agree, if our PG of the future is bayless then our team is not going to be any good, unless the other 4 guys in the lineup are superstars

i'm not saying bayless sucks, but he is so average as a backup, so even if he improves he's going to be an average starting PG at best, if our goal in the future is to be a championship team then bayless is not the 1 that will get us there

FoldedLaundry 03-03-2011 11:26 PM

I give him until next season to assess him. I like what he brings to the table, before being injured he was a good defender and is aggressive almost every game. He still needs to make better decisions and to involve his team more but I like him. A PG who can attack the basket is good to have.

eazy187 03-03-2011 11:39 PM

he is the next Jameer Nelson.
