Jermaine O'neal's comments

I'll probably get riped by some for bringing this up but oh well.I was just watching RaptorsTv and Jermaine was being interviewed.A question was brought up about his health the last 4 seasons. His answer bothers me,he said he had a torn maniscus and he didn't go public with it and played on it for two and a half years. Why is that a good thing? Some would say he put his team first,in trying to get them into the playoffs. But if he was putting his team first shouldn't he have told them right away and get it corrected instead of playing on a bum knee for nearly 3 years?Which in turn hurt the team in the long run.Could be a no win situation but.....

Another thing that really bothers me.He said he was able to get on the court early this summer compared to the last 3 summers. He even elaberated that he's been on the court almost everyday since May.If that's the case why is everyone saying how out of shape he is?Some are saying it may take until mid November to get into better game shape.I realize game shape is something entirely different compared to being in the gym.But it shouldn't take almost 2 months if you've been on the court all summer?Should it?

Anyway,i'm looking forward to see what happens with this JO/CB4 combo this season, but this concerns me somewhat.

Watching him in the pre-season, any realistic Raptors fans has to be at least concerned.

If you have ever been at peak athletic condition, then had to completely break down, then start over, you'd understand why he is where he is.

Trust me, it's hell, and he's doing pretty damn good.

I didnt say it's time to freak out, i said most Raptors fans should be at least concerned dont you agree?

lol SP you always go around talking like you were some real athlete, i find it amusing But on to JO.... he claims he has been working out all summer, i dont see any reason he shouldnt be in great shape? I know 3+ months of intense training would get most people in better shape then he seems to be, unless they were completely off the reservation in terms of fitness.

Who are you?

I mean really, have I ever spoken to you in my life?

I'm gonna guess no, which leads me to one more question, what the fuck do you know about me?

Hmm?

3 months to get in peak performance shape?

You are showing exactly why I don't give a shit what you type from here on out. Later Sillypants

I'm concerned the same way I am concerned with Bosh's knee, Jose's groin and Bargnani's foot. Once you're injured once, the likelihood to re-injure is always there.

Now, after dealing with people with injuries and knowing the severity of a torn meniscus and how hard it is to come back, I'm not entirely surprised to see where he is. He couldn't really work out that well for the most part and even though he was in a gym, it could not have been a full speed, intense workout. Impossible. And personally, I'll be more concerned come January and he still isn't there.

Now, Philly with Brand also have to be VERY cautious. I believe it was a torn Achilles Tendon, which is a very serious injury. Considering you're using your feet to quickly jump for rebounds and move laterally even, it will be tough.
